Nice moniker.

Well I'm 44 and I have them for the reason others just stated. I remember the old muscle cars of the 60-70s. I had a 70 roadrunner in highschool (78-81). That thing had badges and stickers gallor!!!

You've got to give Chrysler some credit for not being nonchalant about such matters---and that was 37 years ago: "This thing's got a 340 damn it and if you don't like it motorcycle man you can go pound sand." That's what I hear everytime I see one of those hoods.

Default Not Always

Not every add on is tasteless trashy and ricer, every once in a while someone does a mod that looks so cool you know GM should have done it.
Doesn't happen too often.
I'm a factory original freak, but the 427 emblem (I assume it's stick-on) looks cool.

Which vendor has the best prices on these pups? Do they come with a template for alignment?

Default 427 Badges

I have them on my Z06 and I believe they should have been there from the factory. At least, they are GM original emblems. I get more thumbs up for the badges than I do for the car. Go figure!!!!

I think Gene (www.gmpartshouse.com) has the best deal.

GMpartsdirect.com is running a special for $114.95, but shipping might push it over Gene's price. Also I've heard Gene gets stuff out like right now.

And yes a template and alcohol swabs come in the kit----and the one part number gets you a pair.

Im curious, do the Lambo and Ferrari guys badge up their cars at this rate?
Uh, yea. Probably more so if you look at the number of cars that have the scuderia shields on the fenders - a $1,500 option to make sure people who look at the car from the side know that it's a Ferrari.

The 427 badges seem to be very popular according to the poll results so far. I decided that I'm going to order a set. I guess I'm one of the younger guys that doesn't think they look rice or ghetto.

Hey "fiveodude", I'm just guessing, but isn't your screen name a reference to your 5.0 GT? And didn't it have 5.0 badges on it? Or did you remove them to let the delicate lines of the Third Gen Mustang "flow uninterrupted"?

The 427 badges are an official GM accessory, not an aftermarket "Type R" stuck on a Civic that never came as a Type R in the first place. They correctly describe the CID, and honour the badges that were on the old 'vette big blocks.

You don't like them; OK, but spare us the "ricer", "ghetto" and "old person" insults.

Michael

just because it was done in the 60's doesnt make it cool. unlike the old days, modern cars are very smooth and sleek, so trying to put a badge where it doesnt belong makes it look really odd and pretentious

I saw them, orderd them, put them on, they are great, get compliments all the time. The dealer told me theyvshould come with the car, he said he has had people looking at Zo6's and asking where are the emblems. Just my .02.

This question has come up a few times in the last year. Seems like a lot more guys like it each time it comes up.
I think eventually I will put them on my 08Z, they look like they belong there, not that obtrusive, I like the red lettering against my black Z (seen them on another black Z)
All that said I still can't seem to pull the trigger and order them.
I will still read and make a decision soon.
