Default Tune not worth $$

IMHO a tune for $600 to get 10 hp
a huge waste of money and yes the
tune was done at reputable shop outside
of Dallas.

better to wait on a tune til you get done with a cam or headers, rather then doing it after cold air and exhaust. IMHO

biggest dyno #'s are like who has the biggest house who makes the most $$ and who has the hottest woman. somone will always have better

Definetly. At minimum, a header, cold air install coupled with a good tune is integral good fuel/air mixture ratios, enhancing overall performance from the aforementioned mods.

A tune by itself is expensive, yes, but then you should have asked, and then evaluated the cost with gain.

What were the baseline # 's & AFR ? Maybe the factory set-up was dead on, and there wasn't much room for gain !!!

I agree. We need some before and after numbers.
Under perfect cool operating temps, the stock motor and tune is not bad. But we are rarely in that zone. A good tune will allow your car to perform great, even in higher temp situations. The stock tune pulls alot of timming out when the coolant and air intake temps get high. Thus the poor performance in hot weather.

Well, I picked up just about 40 rwhp with my Halltech Tune and intake. Worth the money to me and yes, I can feel the difference.

60$ per HP is not so bad considering other mods and their price to HP ratio, but a tune that nets 10HP is suspect.

Default plug in chip

Just curious if anyone out there has the $600. performance chip sold by ZIP. I recently bought SS brake hoses from them for my Z and noticed the tuner chip for stock Vetts. Just wondering if it would be worth the $$$ I'm thinking NOT!

So that's about a 2% gain which would be equivalent to losing 60 lbs weight. Cheaper to go on a diet

t-stat and a tune close to $700 with tax. Stock 448 rwhp 5th pull 457 rwhp. I would rather not give out the name of the shop that did it. I am not disappointed with the #'s because you can only get so much blood out of a turnip. People need to know that a tune only ( no cam, headers, etc. Is not much of an improvement.
