[Z06] Tires what to get
#21
Melting Slicks
I will go with tires that are not sticky for daily driving.

Hoosier R6 345/30ZR19 for the rear (it doesn't rub)
Hossier R6 285/30ZR18 for the front (it doesn't rub, either)
Fit on stock wheels and great for the street and strip. It's not uncommon to get 1,500- 2,000 miles out of these tires even with some track use....
Good luck! Share your decision and the results with us!

Yes, they are great track tires when well heated up, but they are only sticky for 10-20 heat cycles. They are true racing tires, PERIOD!

A big change that has drastically affected the Viper's ride and handling is an upgrade from the run-flat Michelin Pilot Sports to a new, custom tire. Labeled as Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, they are actually made specifically for the Viper with Michelin's more aggressive "R" compound from the Pilot Sport Cup tire.

I read all that stuff in the car mags when the '08 Viper came out too, and I wish it were true, but it would appear that it is not because the treadwear rating on the tires is the same as all the other PS2's, 220. (I know that not only from the specs on Tirerack but I also exchanged some PM's with a guy who bought a set of the OEM '08 Viper PS2's and verified that the sidewalls said 220).

It irresponsible to suggest to those who may not know better that Hoosier R6s are great for the street. They are dangerous on the street because they cannot stand up to any type of road hazard. Even Hoosier condemns their use on the street.

Sorry! I completely missed the little "non" before the run-flat at the end of his post. I thought he was saying that he wanted the tires that were run-flat, because he was one of those guys that didn't want to use run-flats. Please disregard my brainfart.
Maybe you do not understand the wording run-flat since you highlighted confusion to the wording "an alternative for us CS C6 folks that won't use a non-runflat."
Per Wikepedia, "A run-flat tire is a pneumatic vehicle tire that is designed to resist the effects of deflation and to enable the vehicle to continue to be driven."
So some of us want to continue to use a run flat tire on our Z06's as delivered but would like to try something other than our current Goodyears, hence the statement where the poster wants to use a run flat tire and not non-runflat tires.
