[Z06] XM Radio Discount

Hi All,
This thread really shouldn't be an XM vs Sirius debacle. We're talking about a discount that XM users can receive. Whether you'd like to believe it or not, a lot of customers do use the code and do use XM. It may not sound like CD quality, but I use it.
Thanks to the OP for mentioning GM Parts House.
To also contribute to this discussion... I was told that Target is selling $50 dollar XM gift cards for $25 and $30 dollars. So this would be an even sweeter deal if you got that!
Thanks, Gene.

I signed for one year, did not know about the $77 deal,
however they did agree to a seasonal suspension since I don't
use the car Nov - April. They'll add the months on when I call
to reinstate the following April.
At first the fellow on the phone said no, then he checked with
the supervisor and they said yes. I can suspend then reinstate.

My $0.02:
First, the sound quality of XM is TERRIBLE!! I understand that the compression does this.
Second, XM has very limited selection of music. Mostly wierdo channels.
Third, the XM billing department was BEYOND TERRIBLE!! They auto-rolled over my XM even though I told them I did not want to continue (at about $150 year). I could care less about the cost (I have $80k n the car right?). I battle with them to terminate and then sent them some $$ just to shut up!!
The only real benefit of XM for me would be college football coverage which is generally available on the regular radio anyway.
Maybe Sirius is better? I will wait and see if we can receive it on our radios.
Good luck!

I've had both....Sirius is just as bad! I had the same auto renewal happen with them. When I called customer service to cancel they gave me an 888 number that I needed to call. I called that number no less than 30 times over a 3 week period and it was busy everytime. Never did get through to that dept. I like the sports on XM, but the Sirius music choices are much better imo.

I've never had problems getting customer service either...but had major problems getting in touch with someone to cancel service. Just like xm it's a different number that you have to call.

I called XM today after reading this thread last night.
I had to be firm with the lady cause she wanted to send me a free radio, one time connection fee and 6.95 a month.
I told her no, I was only paying 77.00 a year.
She finally conceded and it cost me only the 77.00.
Thanks for the help guys.

The ZWINBACK only works for one year. I just tried to re-new again with ZWINBACK. Tried three different reps and they all told me the same thing.
If anybody knows any other promotions, please let me know. If for no other reason, I like have the Major League Baseball package on XM when I travel.

Say I want to cancel. They transfer you to the cancellation guy and he ask what can he do. You reply I will renew for $77.00 a year and he says ok. It works every time. Two years in a row now.

$77 again - works every time - no hassle
Just renewed again today on my '06 vert. The nice little girl wanted to sign me up for their SPECIAL of only $9.99/month, but I just said I would renew for the $77 deal ONLY. "OK, let me get that set up for you." No problem whatsoever. $84.05 including tax.
Does anyone know how the Sirius/XM merger will affect things like subscription prices, stations lost/gained, when will we notice a difference, etc., etc.?
The info in the endgadget report here (http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/24/x...rger-approved/) is more technical/legal than I can sift through. Can anyone help?

I think the poor sound quality is with the units in the Corvettes. The sound quality in my '08 H2 and '07 Cobalt is MUCH better.
It is really kinda disappointing that the XM portion of the radio in the Corvettes isn't that great. I'm beginning to think that it might be due to no outside antenna.
It's the only difference I can see between the 3 vehicles I have.

Melting Slicks
Got the $77 deal today, which was applied to my $12.95 'primary' account ( I have two others @ $6.95, they stay the same).
Thanks Ram! Thanks Gene!
