'70 Nova blows away Z06?
First, I will introduce myself. I am a fairly new member who is usually on the C3 section. I live in the USA but I am from Brazil. I have been here about 5 years and love the corvettes. My english is not so good but I am trying so please don't make funny stuff with me. My corvette is being painted and there was a man there at the body shop and we were talking. He said that he has a friend who has 2 of the cars. One is a Z06 and the other is a 1970 Nova with the big engine 427 L88. He said it has headers and a few other modern mods but nothing out of the ordinary. Anyway, he told me of honestly that they raced the two together to see who was faster. He said the Nova walked away from it and without much of the troubles. I love all these cars but I found this not easy to believe. Is this true? You are the experts and I am only new to all of this. He said that the owner was some bits of upset from the results. He promised me it was the truth and he seemed so honestly. I was wanting your opinions and please be truthful. He also said that the Lotus Elise is of the best handling car made and I kind of believe that with the weight.
Thanks, my friends!!

Any thing is possible. I've seen 8 second Ford Pintos and Chevy Vegas, but that are prepared drag racers, not street cars. If true, it's highly unlikely that it was "nothing out of the ordinary."

My turbo Busa will kill your ZX14, but I'm not too sure about the Pinto...

I had a friend back in high school. He had one of these big block Novas and used to walk around with the classic s*&t eating gring on his face uttering things like: "They can tell me how fast I can go, but they cannot tell me how fast I can get there"......
Now if it came to actually having to go around a corner, the Z06 would definately win.

Mine is bigger than yours, nah nah nah nah nah. Give me a break - it's all relative. There are twin-turbo Z06s that would squash the Nova - point? It's all good.

On a drag strip I would pick the Nova, on a tight road course the Elise, on a high speed track or for the street the Z. If I could only have one of those the Z!
And WELCOME to the forum. If you stick around you'll learn a lot.
