$150,000 Deposit!
Cruised in to a local dealer yesterday and the rep that sold me my vette told me someone had already given the owner $150,000 for the first of 12 "SS/Blue Devils" to be allocated to the dealer here, and said "I'm in it for 150 but i'll go to 175 if need be..."
WTF!? I guess money is relative, but dang...
Also noted the dealer mark-up on the Z06 came down 10 grand since last time i visited...

what an idiot! He might as well gave them the $175k. I'm in it for $175k means ream me for as much as I can take and I for sure can take $175k. Good negotiating skills on that guys part IF the dealer is telling the truth, which is a big IF!

The dealer should put that in a CD until the car is released. The interest alone on that for a year isn't a bad profit at all.

ok the story seems a little over the top but it wouldnt surprise me to see collectors with 150k deposits on these things as soon as more details are released by GM. Only in America.

Which goes to prove you don't HAVE to be smart to have a lot of $$$$. A lot of my most "well to do" friends got their money the old fashioned way - their father or father-in-law died.

Deposit. Very Interesting.
California DMV has told all dealers that they are not allowed by law to take deposits for cars that they have no allocations for. I find this post to be a little bit of BS about deposits. Dealers in CA. know that they are breaking the law.If they can't deliver a car they take deposits on they will be sued. DMV will get them.
