How many miles should a new Z06 have at the dealer?
While looking for a Z06, I've noticed the mileage varies from dealer to dealer. I've seen some with 6 or 8 miles, then some with 15 or 20. Then I'll see some with 40 miles or so. Obviously, someone has gone had some fun with the latter.
Perhaps I'm crazy, but I'm only considering it a brand new car at less than 10 miles on the odometer. I have nightmares of some detail guy in the back shop redlining the car on his lunch break.
What do you think?

Mine came with 2 miles from BG. The master mechanic put 2 more miles on it when he took it out to test drive(and no, he's not the type to abuse it). Then 2 more miles were put on it when they gassed it up(they were not suppose to do that, but...) Took delivery with a total of 6 miles.

I have occasionally seen a regular vette on the dealers lot being sold as 'new' and 'never titled' that will have 700, 800 or maybe 900 miles on it. I always figured the owner was joy riding. They will say the warranty will have that many miles added on at the end .
I guess such a car might be a good buy. With hundreds of WOT runs and probably no breakin it would have broken if it was going to and likely has all the bugs worked out ......
then again...

my '06 had 2 miles on it, and that was bought off a showroom floor over in ft worth. I'm baffled why a museum delivery car would have more miles than a showroom car here in texas.

Extra Miles on Select Z06s
During my Museum Delivery Plant Tour, one of the BG plant tour guides explained that a random Corvette is selected from the assembly line and is test driven to assure quality Control from each model. Each Test will add approximately 30-40 additional miles to the vehicle before delivery to the dealer.
Additional Info: Mine only had 3 Miles on the Odometer in the Museum on Delivery. Just for the Info.

I didn't hear that on my tour...anyway, every Corvette is immediately driven off the line and onto a dyno that tests abs, trans, etc., then it's driven to the wet leak test and then onto the test lot, then back to the QC area for final inspection. when it's OK'd it goes across to the Allied Transportation lot and staged for transportation.
By the time the dealer gets it off the truck and puts it into service it has 4 miles on it.
mine turned over to 5 miles when leaving the dealer.
