Interesting pictures....gives you a good idea about how fast these cars are.....I think the numbers are the same as in the high speed test performed by german AMS?

I forget how many orders of magnitude superior the Veyron is when compared to other supercars. It's staggering.

It's nice to see the Z06 hold it's own in a class where most of the cars cost two to three times as much.

Thanks for posting this article - it's very informative.
Great to see our Z06 holding it's own against cars that cost ALOT more then it does!

I received yesterday the newest Motor trend and there is an article on test of the new Lambo. I wish I had it with me to quote figures but what I do remember does not jive with this article being that at least in the qtr mile the Z is way ahead and I can not imagine it picking up that much space in front of the Z at 18.2seconds.

Judging by the Viper #'s I have to doubt the accuracy of these #'s.

0-124 @ 13.8 seconds is very questionable. My first run with my 04 was 12.3 @120 I doubt it would take a second and a half to get to 124.

Plus I am an idiot at drag racing.

While I was In Miami (Early November)sitting down on Ocean drive eating outside, a Veyron passes me/us!!!! Everyone looked in amazement, some elderly people even asked me what type of car it was... Went by a little too fast to take a pic(even though there was some traffic), and it was very quiet.

Yes I agree....some of the numbers could be questioned! 11,9 seconds for the Z06 for 0-124 Mph is not what the car is capabel of with a driver like Ranger......also the 0-186 Mph in 41.8 seconds is a bit strange.....maybe they shifted to 6th gear? This has been discussed a lot in another thread.....so my intention wasn't to start this discussion all over.....

All the Z would need is another 455 HP at the wheel.

It is interesting when you read some of these comparisons, the best or most costly cars seam to get the more accurate #'s. The lesser expensive seem to get lesser than normal or even average #'s.

Just an observation. Certainly not trying to start a huge p'ing match.

Its amazing that the Z06 falls right into the middle of the pack despite being the least expensive by far. Also interesting that the MPH order is almost perfectly correlated to power-to-weight with the exception of the Z06 and GT being switched. But those are only within 1mph so thats not too far off.

hmm, an acquaintance of mine is getting his 599 Fiarano next quarter. Looks like I may need to lower the compression and strap on a turbo.

The Europeans don't time with any rollout which adds a few tenths alone.

Also, the AMS test was done on a wet track.

I didn't have roll out time.

If the track was wet, it would explain a lot.

Thanks,
Dan

If you were at a dragstrip, there is a rollout time involved. How did you obtain the time?

At a drag strip. Are you talking about the 7" roll out that you are suppose to try and minimise without tripping the light?

When you stage, you break the beam with the front of your tire. The clock doesn't stop until after the back of the tire leaves.

So at the dragstrip, the clock doesn't start until after you're going about 3 mph IIRC which is 0.3 seconds from the "true" start.

Read more about it here.
