Yes, I am the owner and driver of that Black Z, that Benzo is lucky I was riding on a bummed out clutch. Otherwise, his whopping would have been much worse than those 8 cars I put on him, not counting the three or so cars I spotted him at the starting line. Also, listen to the audio, I even lifted on the 1st to 2nd shift due to tire spin, and I still caugh his butt before shifting into 3rd.

The new Z is a bad mamajama!

Hi Myhardtop.

Which clutch did you go with? And are the axles stock C5Z parts?

Good luck and keep us posted.

So at time of race, everything was stock?
What would the results have been if it were the AMG version?

SL 65 is top of the line AMG version, allegedly running below twelves. Are we sure the Merc wasn't an SL 55 or SL 600 or 500? It looked like a 13 second car. Then again, if Carlos is in the tens. . .it'll make a high elevens car look slow as beans.

Hello Mr. Ranger,

I went with the VDS twin disk Ram clutch. And yes, I repalced both sides with stock C5Z units...part #:10311201.

That Benz was an SL65 AMG. He was running 11.70's to 11.80's at 121 to 122mph all night long. He spanked a few Stangs, Vettes and F-bodys, then started to run his mouth and that's when I stepped in and asked him to run me for money.

So, he came down to earth a little and only offered to run for $20 and asked for cars. So, I said fine...I wanted to run for at least $100 and I was willing to give FIVE cars, but he only asked for 3. And you can see what happened.

At that time, my car had the: the Air-Charger, LT headers, 160* stat, and tuning...everything else was stock.

Now, all the same as above except for: C5Z axles, Halltech Foami F1 filter and the Ram VDS dual disk clutch. We are in the process of retuning for this crazy heat!

It would be good for the C6Z community if you were to make 20 passes with your now existing set-up before you put nitrous to work. That way we'd learn about the robustness of the drive train under drag strip loads with you 520 or so rwhp, twin disk (aftermarket) clutch, and M&H DR. That's a combo quite a few owners would gravitate toward, if it holds up with the C5Z axles.

That question really won't be answered if you go straight to the bottle and something breaks.

Your comments are solicited, Myhardtop.

TIA,

Ranger

Oh yeah don't worry, I will do plenty of N/A runs. I want to see how many 5-6k rpm launches this set up will take!

Stay tuned

I will assume that you're asking me...a little over 500, best ET thus far was 10.98! My average is in the 11.20's @ 128...all on the orignal EMT's and clutch.

My business partner just picked up the SL65 AMG. I'ts gorgeous car with 10 million gadgets to break. I feels much heavier than a C5 and is no where near as explosively quick as my car. I'm around 460-470 RWHP with 3.90'sand an M6. If we were to ever run there is no doubt in my mind that I would smoke him very badly. Even he agrees, but it's totally different type of car.

Well. You'd better look again. It's a SL65 for sure.
