Drag Race: MY MOddED Z vs Cobra
Prairie Hill, Tx. This is a crappy track with little lighting and no billboard for final times but nevertheless it is a track with time slips and a tree. HERE is the story. Bigshot Mustang Cobra with an upgraded s/c, 150-200 shot of NOS and drag SLICKS against my cammed 06z. There were many hard feelings between us because of past discussions of whos car was better. Besides this guy is arrogant as they come. He launched on me with a 1.6-60ft against my 1.99. I beat him with a 11.7 vs his 11.99. The FUNNY part of this is the post interview when we caught him on candid camera. He complains of all types of things and I ask him to go again and he says he HAS to let his S/c cool down. I was running at over 200 degrees with my coolant. Shortly before we started recording him, he actually said he just had a 75 shot to keep his s/c cool. His buddy had just told us that he was up to a 200 shot when he agreed to race me. These are the days that I just LOVE drag racing! *****Carlos, this is your guy!*****

man you either have terrible DA or neither of you can drive. If that was an 03-04 cobra and it has a whipple or KB and a shot of the gas, it's a 9 second ride. A friend of mine ran a 6.5 @ 107 in the 1/8 with just a blower upgrade in his 03.
The car below is on the stock blower with n20.

I was racing against 450NOS Cobro with 2500pounds and claimed 500+HP I lost but only because his drag tires and his 1.7 60` vs my 2.08 time... (I must still repeat that our tracks are not good as real drags in US) Your Z is pushing very strong, my was same as his = I had slowler lounch and car was faster only at 2nd part of 3th gear... I lost 1.9 vs 1.7...
IMHO. cooling is very important with NOS, another friends with Cobra was replacing engine every month with NOS.

Your time is OK, but the Cobra????....
My 03 Cobra with only 492rwhp ran an 11.84@120.57 on a 1.85 60' on Drag Radials launching at only 2000rpms with me grannyshifting.
My buddy with basically the same mods launching harder on slicks and powershifting ran easy 11.0s and 11.1s@124-125+
I have his car running 11.1s on video beating my 11.2 92 LX in fact.
He sprayed his Cobra with a 60 shot after that and ran a 10.47@134.
I have that video also.
I still would take a C6 Z06 STOCK that runs 11.5-11.7@125+ over a faster 03 Cobra
BTW - NICE KILLS at the strip!

Mods on my 03 Cobra were Ported Blower, 2.8 upper, cai, catback, and a tune.
I forgot, my buddy had a Ported Blower, 2.8 upper AND a 2# lower, cai, catback, and a tune. Slicks also.
The lower adds like 10-20rwhp and about 40-50rwtq.

Ok look...not to start a fight or no crap...but PLEASE show me some videos or time slips of 03 cobras running low 10's or high 9's because I have over 500 videos on my computer and the fastest cobras are 11.20's.....I have seen cobras put down 700rwhp but not be able to break 10's! These cars are so far inferior to the technology of the vette, its crazy! If you put a 500 rwhp vette and a 500rwhp cobra on the line...the vette is gonna win 100 times out of 100 trys.

Any car that is getting into the low 10's and especially high 9's has to be about a full blown drag car. I'm not saying it can't be done but it takes some serious horsepower to get to those numbers and some drastic weight reduction. Mustangs are pretty heavy in stock form.
Remember full blown NHRA drag bikes are only getting 7's.

This is my local track and I learned to drag race on it so dont knock it. Carlos came down and also ran horrible numbers due to the little maintence done on the track. I will have my real numbers tommorow night, then make your decision if I can drive.
