You are indeed right. Just like audiophiles.
I thought that didn't look right last night - should have double-checked.

Coming from a word philia which indicates a signficant degree of affection for a given object.

I don't mean to hijack, but...
A country boy goes to the city looking for work, but doesn't have much luck, so he starts going door-to-door.
He arrives at a big fancy house and the owner comes to the door. The country boy explains his dilemma, and asks if there's any odd job he could do.
The owner says, "OK, if you go into the garage you'll find some paint. I'll pay you $100 to paint my porch".
A few hours later, the doorbell rings, and the paint-spattered country boy is standing there.
"You're done already?" the owner asks.
"Yep", says the boy, "and I think there's something you should know."
"What's that?" says the owner.
"Well, that ain't a porch, mister, it's a Ferrari".

They only represent a different approach to get the same amount of airflow. What one should be concerned with is how many POUNDS/hp. Or even EXTERNAL size/hp. Some of these high tech whiz bang multivalve, OHC engines are HUGE, especially when they require turbos to get the desired power.
And the LSx based engines are getting over 100% VE due to exhuast scavenging.
To me the LSx motors are the pennicle of engineering achievement when you consider you get 505HP naturally aspirated in a light weight aluminum small block, and towards 30MPG, all while maintaining low emissions vehichle status.
Combustions chamber design, and a lot of other things go into burning the fuel efficiently etc. These are the types of things that make a world class engine.
I think the quote above was perfect for many competing engines out there. "Faulty design, overengineered to perfection"

I vividly remember a thread that was started in C5 gen a while ago. The title was "stuped earopian car owners think that they are much better then us"

I posted a similar thread on Rennlist.com against Vettes to see if there would be similar responses. Very few replies and nothing degenerated into name calling or mud slinging, which doesn't surprise me one bit and might be argued they are a more classy upscale group because of it.
There is seriously more **** slinging Vette owners than there are Porsche geeks that do the same. Many here are the pot calling the kettle black and should stand back, take a look in the mirror and re-evaluate what they think is true.

The only opinions that matters to me is the opinions of those people that I know and care about. What a Porsche owner thinks about anything is less than irrelevant.
Why would you guys even care?
The concept at play here is called. "cognative dissonance". If I was considering buying a Corvette vs. a Porsche, and bought the Vette, then I would emphasize the negatives of the Porsche and the positives of the Vette (in my mind), thereby making the Vette the logical choice.
