[Z06] Vipers out for 2007

Viper going extinct and over msrp?
Yesterday I went to the Dodge dealer, just to check on availability of the Viper. They said that I could order one and get it within 10 weeks. With all the nonsense going on with the Z06 and even though I am at heart a corvette enthusiast, I have kept an open mind to buying a Viper. I did not even consider it until hearing about how difficult it is to get a Z06 at msrp. I have also been tempted by the fact that a Viper can be twin turboed to produce sick horsepower. I told the dealer that I would be paying cash and asked what the price would be. The salesman talked to the manager and came back to tell me, "It will be $2500 over msrp". LMAO! Is this a wacked out dealer or is this typical? It did not make any sense to me. The Z06 is the hot car now, a hair quicker than the Viper, with newer technology and an msrp of 25k lower. If anything the Viper should be lower than msrp in order to compete with the Z06. What do you guys think?

You just went to the wrong Viper Dealer. You need to go to a dealer that specializes in Vipers. Go to Viperclub.com and ask who you need to go and see pending on your area.
I had a dealer trying to sell me an 03 for over MSRP that has sat on his lot for over a year when other dealers were discounting 05's.

Vipers out for 2007
Since being frustrated about trying to find a Z06 at msrp, I have done some research into getting a Viper. Heffner performance referred me to a good Dodge dealer in GA and I called them. They had several Vipers in stock and were willing to sell them for about 82k, which is under msrp. They do not have the color that I want. He confirmed that the Viper will not be made in 2007 but will return in 2008 as a new generation Viper. Imagine if Dodge increases power in the Viper, which they are sure to do, and Chevrolet emerges with the Blue Devil. What a year 2008 will be. Surely, Chevrolet would be wise to plan something in 2008 or Dodge will once again take over the top spot of american sports cars.
I believe that the absence of the Viper in 2007 will cause the Chevrolet dealers to continue their shenanigans with the price gouging. It seems that Chevrolet knocked Dodge clear out of the ring and back into training camp. In a way, it is a disgrace that Dodge has such a glass jaw. Beware of the rematch, though! Dodge is sure to exploit the old adage, "there is no substitute for cubic inches".

Honestly - if you tell them you've got 80K cash on hand, he is figuring that you've got an extra 2500 squirreled away in there somewhere. You need to work on your poker face!

I too, considered a Viper... for about 1 minute
I went to Cerritos Dodge and test drove an 06 Viper. Not only was the car below MSRP right off the bat, it was no where near the car the Z06 is. And even with the discount it was still not worth the money.
The Viper is not as responsive, sounds awful, is front end heavy, harsh ride, cramped inside, hot...etc.
For me, and my driving style, I ruled it out immediately during the test drive.
Let's face it, even at $5K or $10K over MSRP, there is nothing out there that even remotely comes close to being a Supercar like the Z06. Initially, being a "Ford guy" for many years, I was shopping for a GT which by the way, in my area, they are still going for $30K over. When I realized I could get equal/better performance in the Z06 for half the money and have change left over to mod, if necessary, I went to the "darkside."

Come to VIR and take a ride w/ my buddy bugeater who drives a VRL get II viper... or go for a spin in an SRT-10 in the hands of someone who knows how to pilot one... they handle very very well, but don't have the safety gizmos of the vettes.

Get the Viper
Right now options on the Viper are unbelievable - lots of choices with colors and striping and wheel options, it is an incredible time to get a snake- prices will never be better..
Many many of the Viper community has bought from Woodhouse Dodge, contact Bill Pemberton.
The Viper is truly a beautiful car, a roadster that is thrilling and exhilarating. Sure the Z is a tad faster, but for open air motoring there was no other choice for me...

OMG can we all STFU about the stupid Nurburging already.
It’s sickening.
The Ring lap times are nice to look at and brag about on forums, but at the end of the day it does not unequivocally put a period on particular car's road course performance.
I think Viper’s numbers were very poor for the Ring, but if you believe that all cars that are ahead on lap times at the Ring will beat it on a road course near you, you’re in for a VERY rude awakening
Viper’s always handle very well and have exceptional brakes (I think SRT-10 holds the shortest braking distances record)
New Z06 is a better handling and a faster car , but Vipers are very far from being a pushover!
