At least with runflats you can drive with a nail in your tire at 55mph. Who needs the extra traction of a non-runflat tire...

Love the car, hate the tires.

I agree. I have had a lot of fun letting other people enjoy driving my vettes. I have a friend who is a judge who recently told me that he has wanted to drive one since he was a kid! What a pleasure to be able to indulge a wish like that!! And we all know someone like this.

I have also taught a least six kids to drive a stick on my 02 ZO6. With its low end torque it doesn't stall easily. The can get the hang of the gas and clutch control much much easier than say in my wife's GS35 which has a really touchy clutch point.

But this new Z just ain't gonna be touched by anyone unless I am absolutely dead sure they know what they are doing AND I am in the car.

This is a car that is scary fast and has a blindingly quick and potentially fatal bite. I have no doubt it will slap you upside the head in a heartbeat!!! It will not indulge fools..........................

I have quickly modded all my previous vettes. This one, I am going take the time to know. Instead of adding more power, I would really like to work on the wheel hop and am watching any and all posts on solving this problem. So let's keep that discussion going...

A little off topic since I don't have a C6 Z06 but my first stick shift car EVER at the age of 28 (yeah yeah I know lol) is my 2003 Z06 which I purcahsed in August of this year. Other than some jitters at first (oh yeah I beat up a friends old miata for a week and a half first) it was no problem and is now pretty much second nature. I realize its only 405 compared to 505 HP (no mods yet) but damn how do you let the car get away from you like that. I feel for the guy but my guess is he'd been driving stick a long time, but nothing with that much power, got on it and got suprised. Glad he's ok though.

If you ever have taken traction control and active handling off of your Z you can see how this could happen if you are not careful.
I took both off a couple of times to get the real feel of the car, I'll at least leave competitive driving on. The true beast in the animal comes out with both off.

Remember, the hardtop saved this driver. End of rant.
Rant all you want, but the front end took all the impact, not the cage.

People who want high performance convertibles are fools huh, well this hardtop owner was no genius.

Regardless of the situation, I feel pretty bad for this guy. I could not imagine wrecking my dream car so shortly after purchasing it.

Not true. All cars inlcluding the cheapest imports can reach dangerous speeds and loose control with the wrong driver. The new Z06 is probably more controllable than many cars with half the horsepower and half the technology.

People running on bald tires, poor maintenance, the list goes on and on.

Dont blame it on HP.
