Manual convertible top experiences
Wondering how those owners with manual tops feel about the operation of the top?
Is the top quick and easy as it appears in the dvd demo?
Are you happy with your decision to get this style of convertible top?
I'm on the waiting list for a power top but I'm really questioning the need for it. I am hopeful that I could get a better delivery date if I didn't wait for the power top.
Thanks!

I love the manual top. To me the power top is a waste. For one thing the power top operates to slow. With my C5s I could rais or lower the top in about 10 secondes. The C6 is even a bit quicker with it having only one latch.

Umm, I'm guessing that he means he is curious to see the responses from other C6 vert owners

The only problem I see with the manual top is the potential for closing the the tonneau cover onto the top release latch should one get distracted and forget to put it in place

well... when you get a conv. you are already spending a decent buck, well over 60k for a well equiped C6, so if you like the luxury of this car why not spend a couple more bucks and get a power top?
To me nothing is a waste, if you want it, get it!
After all, it's a great feature on a great car we all love here

I drive with my top down over 90% of the time. I HATE not having a power top. When you park you have to exit & re-enter the car to roll up the windows and pull the key out of the ignition (the latch release automatically rolls down both windows). Doing the Chinese fire drill at a stoplight looks pretty ghey for a $50K sports car too.

If you can't afford the extra 2K, then you should rethink your purchase.

I'm a C5 manual top owner, and I have never said, "D*mn. This thing is tough to operate. I wish it was automated."
Opening and closing the manual C5 top is no big deal - and it looks like it is even easier with the center release they put on the C6.
It's a luxury item. It's not necessary to operate the car.
To me, it comes down to a cost - benefit thing: For two grand, you can raise and lower the top without getting out of the car. Maybe there's a token benefit at re-sale. Maybe. It's also another added gizmo that has the potential to give you trouble.
At the end of the day, it's your two grand - and it's your butt either getting in and out of the car, or not. Since you're already spending most of 60 grand on the car anyway, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I never had a problem operating my manual top on my C5 - and I am "mechanically challenged!" I was looking forward to getting a power top on my C6, but then I read that trunk space with a power top is 5 cubic feet versus 10 for a manual. Unfortunately, I need the room for luggage on trips to the beach - so I will order the manual top.
