~~*[IT'S HERE!!!] Just Got Back From The Museum Delivery!!*~~
Well, I got home last night after driving 8 1/2 hours from Bowling Green in my new C6. The Museum Delivery really is a unique experience. It didn't go without a hitch however. First off the battery was dead when I got there so they had to replace it with another one to get it to crank. Also, I had to skip the assembly plant tour since I had to get out of town quickly before the massive winter storm hit bringing rain, sleet and snow, ahhh winter.
Aside from a few drawbacks I must say that I did enjoy the trip, I took my father with me and he enjoyed it too. He has been a Vette guy much longer than I. We stayed at the University Plaza Hotel and everyone there was so nice and accommodating, they even left a card for me signed by all of the Hotel staff wishing me luck with my new Vette. My tour guide, Curt Adkins, was great guy; he really made the tour a memorable one. While taking the plant tour I happened upon a guy in a very strange position hunkered down with his butt in the air underneath the Mako Shark taking pictures. It turned out to be none other than forum member Adam Boca, an employee of the museum. By the way, I have some pics of Adam in that position and for the right price.........
But seriously, Adam was a great guy and he even knew of me by my forum name, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not though.
The gift shop came in handy, I picked me up a new C6 leather jacket, a couple of bricks for the outside of the museum, one for my parents and one for me, and several other items I will be giving to friends and family for Christmas.
Now, with all of that aside we can get to what you are interested in...the CAR. I was stunned at how beautiful the car is. I had not yet seen a Mag Red C6 in person till I walked up on my car and it is....WOW! I am also EXTREMELY pleased with the polished rims. I had heard such horror stories about them here on the forum that I was a bit concerned but alas, they were exactly what a nice polished rim should look like. No milky or blotchy spots, just a very shiny rim, also every other C6 there with polished rims looked good too which leads me to believe that there was probably just a bad batch of rims that a few people got and has since been fixed.
The six speed manual does take a few minutes to get used to, the clutch is very soft. I like the short throw shifter and I know it will get even smoother as it wears in.
The car is very quiet, conspicuously quiet even while it is at idle or cruising speed but once you get on the gas a bit this low end growl rises up from the rear of the car and immediately grabs your attention saying...Hello, I'm a V8 and I am about to hand you your ***. All I can say is, damn I love that 400 ft. lbs. of torque!!!!
On a side note, I did have to drive her through a good bit of rain and surprisingly she didn't melt, what a relief.
Here are some pics of the C6 at the museum:
This is a web cam view of her in delivery spot 5.
Now here is how she looked when I first saw her.
Here is Rick performing minor surgery on her, changing out the dead battery.
The view most non-Vette drivers will have to get used to.
Outside the museum.
Teh money shot.
Time to activate the OnStar and XM now...

Congratulations. Mag Red sure is a beautiful color. What other options did you get, besides the 6-spd and the polished wheels?
