What Dealers Are Giving The Gms Discount

Bobbie,
I posted virtually the same plea last week in the C6 Wanted forum and, although over 100 people have viewed the post, no one has responded.
Interesting to note that I did receive a message from a salesman that I had been dealing with informing him that I had just found out that I qualified for the discount. His e-mail stated that his dealership in Maryland was not honoring a GMS discount but that if I could find one to let him know as he wanted to order his personal C6 this summer!
If any dealers are going to respond I am ready to order today a Coupe (Mag Red or Le Mans Blue), Cashmere, MN6, 1SB, Z51 and Museum delivery.

Just passing this on.
We are currently not selling C6 Corvettes at GMS, I’m sorry, no can do at this time.
If GM would provide an extra unit allocation for GM employees and GM Suppliers I’m pretty sure most dealers (approximately 4200 Chevy Dealers Nationwide) would be glad to do GM Employee and GM Supplier even when a car is hot, because it would mean extra profit that the dealer otherwise would not get. Now that seems to make sense, the philosophy that a half a loaf is better then none. However, the reality is when a dealer sells GM employees and GM Suppliers that Corvette comes out of the dealer’s limited allocation. That’s one less Corvette the dealer gets from GM.
If a dealer could get all the C6 Allocation they wanted this would not be a topic of interest. This only comes into play on hot products with limited production that are selling strong.
Let’s take the SSR as an example. Initially this factory hot rod was red hot. We were allocated 5 for the first model year. No need to sell at a reduced price because supply and demand creates the market and the market was selling at MSRP. When word got out the 05 SSR would have an LS2 and available 6 speed the 04’s became harder to sell. Supply met demand. Prices came down and we were willing to do GM Employee and GM Supplier as were a lot of other dealers. (Side note: 05 SSR Available in stock at GM Supplier or GM Employee.)
On some 03 and many 04 Corvettes we sold to GM Employee and GM supplier, but remember the C5 was 6 to 7 years old when we reached that price point.
Kerbeck is a GM Dealer for Chevrolet Cadillac Pontiac Buick GMC and SAAB in several locations and on most of these products we will sell to GM Employees and GM Suppliers. The subject at hand however is the C6 Corvette and at this point in time thru Tuesday, 11/30/2004, our best deal on an in stock Coupe is $2500 below sticker price. Our price we believe is a good deal for us and the customer. It is also possible that when convertible production starts to limit coupe production, coupes may become more limited and prices may actually go up. Right now we have a good selection at a fair discount. Nobody has a crystal ball and can read into the future. We do know this, moving into the New Year convertible production will have a definite effect on Coupe availability.
I know I did not give you the yes answer you wanted, but I hope I answered your question as to why not.
Side note: GM is aware that GM Employees were buying cars and selling them to make a profit so GM has a clause with employees on some models that the employee must keep the car or truck for 2 years.
If you have any other questions, feel free to post. You know I'll answer you whether it's a poplular answer or not!

Guys, I urge you to do a lot of phone calls on this. If you are ready right now, there are a few dealerships out there that will do the deal. It is the small dealership that is doing it, so look there.
Personally, I think Dave is a great asset to this forum, but reading that post is absolutely proof of why they should be offering GM Supplier and not saying NO to those who qualify...Salesman mentality is a mystery to me, though, even after 17 new car purchases.

Give It Time...and Dealers Will Be Happy To Gms Corvette's. All We Have To Do Is Wait For The Car To Cool Off And Those Dealers Sitting On These Cars For Months At A Time, Paying Floor Plan Interest. Then You Will See Gms Real Quick.

I made a similar post on 11/24 asking any dealer willing to do gm supplier pricing to contact me. 91 views and no responses. I made some calls to four local dealers and a couple of VERY large out of state vette dealers. Found one at $500 off list. A very knowlegeable salesperson gave their best guess that GMS-supplier pricing may be available in late 2005. I gave up and am picking up by C6 Friday afternoon at msrp.

I don't see GMS happening for a while either. I got GMS on my 02 Z06, but that was three weeks after 9/11, when there was inventory everywhere and customers nowhere. Before then I checked for six straight months across the country and didn't find a nibble. Even with 9/11, there was only one dealer on the last day of the third quarter , who sold to me to make his allocation. He was hungry for bonus points or whatever.
Time will tell. Maybe the market will soften. Just read that the GTO production is being cut due to weak sales. GM is hurtin. Too many SUV's and the high end is weak. I don't think there is much GM money to spend on new model intro's. I hope this won't effect the C6 Z06 intro. I want to buy one of those.
Good Luck searching.
