Why no petroleum waxes?
I was watching the cheesy DVD instructional video, and it said not to use petroleum-based waxes on the C6. Does anyone know why not?
Is there a single-application wax (i.e. not Zaino) that someone can recommend? Thanks.

I can't answer your question concerning petroluem based wax, but I can tell you that Zaino is worth the effort. I used it on my Toyota Corolla to see how it worked before putting it on my C6. It is everything that it's advertised to be, plus last weekend I was at a Corvette re-union here in Titusville, and asked several owners what they used and all of them indicated Zaino.

There is no effort using Zaino and the product lasts a very long time.

Yea, what he said!
The painting process is the same water borne system as for the C5, correct? I used the Meguire's line on my four C5s without a single issue. I don't know if they are petroleum based or not.
Bug and tar removers almost certainly have to be. I used those for bugs and tar without issue either.

Well we have polishes and then we have waxes. Aren't polishes slightly abrasive and contain petroleum which is why they can remove minor scratches and provide protection longer than wax? The waxes don't protect as well but are safe to use such as carnaba wax...correct me if I am wrong on this one...

Well...after seeing many posts on Zaino I am going to pitch in on the Zymol...I have been doing concours (Mercedes) for many decades and exclusively use Zymol products..at some point I will post some of my detailing products that I have found to be very successful. Concerning the question of what uses petroleum ...I will not use this base product for any reason..and if you want to know which are petroleum based just rub a bit on any black trim and if it hazes it is petro based. Also I would never use Dawn on my car..far too agressive...simply wash with a good automotive wash such as Zymol or Mothers and then clay bar...of course this is IMHO.

Polish's
After using this product now for nearly three years, I can honestly say, it is the best darn stuff I have ever used and I have used it all. It is a Polymer Base Product, no wax, no silicone. My Dark Blue Met. 2000SS that I show, continues to look better every time I use it. Most people accuse me of having extra coats of clear applied. It is easy to use, especially with Micro Fiber Towels. Can't wait to get it on my new C6, hopefully by next week. You can go to RACEGLAZE.COM and find a distributor in you local area. Most hi end automobile paint stores will know of it. If not, get in touch with me, I can turn you onto another source. Oh yes, the stuff usally stays on six to eight months...Trust me on this one...Everyone that has used it, will swear by it now!
