One look at that C6 "puffer fish face" front
end and I crack up every time...

I believe that comparing one generation to another is apples & oranges.
Here's an example: You go to a Vette meet. You see a gorgeous C1 and you drool over it. You see a kick-azz C2, and you lust for it. Etc. for the C3 and so on. Of course ea. generation is a technical improvement over the previous. And ea. generation reflects the current styling trend. I know when I'm on my porch, in my wheelchair, my drool will actually be coming from looking at the pics of the C8.

I have bonded with my C5. I guess the C6 will grow on me, but for now, I can't forsake my true love.

But fire one up... especially a big block... and you get the sense that pure evil lies under the hood, something you just don't get with a more recent vette.

back to the orig topic, i think they both have their strenghs over each other. this topic is appearance, which is subjective. i like the C5 looks overall better. but i love the rear of the c6. also from the shots viewing the tops of the cars, the C6 sharp lines look great. the C5 front is still way better in my opinion.

The idea of "dated" doesn't apply when you're discussing pure looks (IMHO), except to those who get bored and feel that what's different is what's better looking. To me the C6 needs those extra 5 inches added back to the rear end; I can't help visualizing its proportions like a bird that lost its tail feathers.
That's EXACTLY how I feel.
The C6 is a great car, but the proportions just seem a bit off. The car is taller and narrower which makes it appear top heavy versus the C5's wide, menacing look. And the tail is terrible- it really needs a few inches added back to the lower part. The front is growing on me...
Love the C6 power and interior F&F, though. Much better than the C5. I wish I could take the C6 interior and powertrain and put it under my C5 body.
I firmly believe that the C5 could be the successor to the C6 and people would not be any wiser, aside perhaps for the popup headlamps.

Honestly, I like the nose on the C6. Especially the gaping mouth and the headlights. As for the rest of the car though, I remain a fan of C styling, although I have no idea how they would put it all together to look fluid and right with one another.
I'll admit I was not a huge fan of the C6 initially, but it is really growing on me and I already love the new look of the front end.
