Bob Lutz Said...
Does anyone else remember a article in which Bob Lutz said that the first year of the C6 would be unique in styling compared to the rest of that line? That the C6 would be slightly different in styling a year after it's intro. Could the Z06 (C6) styling also be the direction that the normal C6 will be heading?

I didn't see that article. I don't believe that would be the case because GM put so much time into developing the C6, it wouldn't seem cost effective to do so. I think it is interesting to note that the C5 is the only generation of Corvette that didn't undergo styling changes. Unlike its predecessors, the C5 body style remained unchanged throughout, from 97-04. Other generations had changes, albeit subtle is some cases, but changes nevertheless. I guess we will have to wait and see.

If you see a hardtop, or FRC (the forerunner of the Z06) you would know that it wouldn't be a 97-99, since they didn't make them then. You could also distinguish model years by colors, in some cases, since the only made those colors in certain years. But, as far as the body itself, there were no changes as on previous generations.

Dave Hill said the C6 Z06 would be more visually distinct from the coupe/convertible than the current iteration is, that is as close as I have ever heard to your statement.

The "fish mouth" only looks bad in pictures . In person the car looks great . This is a more curvy , dare I say feminine , corvette . " She's a brick house"

I also remember hearing something about this as well! I think he was referring to the Z06 or whatever they will call it version of the 6 will be cosmetically altered much more than the Z from the 5th gen.....
I do remember hearing reports of them launching a new model line, that were both completely different, but selling them at the same time, ala the C6 and C7 platforms both flying under the Vette flag.... But I doubt this....
Who knows? Its gonna get very interesting come Jauary!!!

C6 Devil, you're thinking of this:

I think it's highly doubtful personally.

I do remember an article that stated that the 05 would be a one year design with some body modification for the 2006 model. I can't be sure that Lutz said it, it may have been a rumor, but it's something i do recall reading.

if that's even remotely what the c6 z06 looks like, i will probably never look at another vette built after '04 until the c7! the c6 already pushed me halfway there. blech. i'm sure it's a fantastic car, etc. but, it's just not for me.

Why would a company put all that time and R&D into modeling a car only to change the shape a year later and every year after that?
