Congrats to all the new C6 owners. Hope you all are enjoying your awesome rides. This post is intended to get honest feedback from those of you that moved to the C6 from the C5. It is NOT intended in any way to start or fuel a generation war. Not having driven a C6, I just want to see what you guys/gals think of the C6 so far. Now that you have had some time behind the wheel of the C6, I wanted your feedback of the C6 as it compares to the C5. I’m not interested in comments regarding body style between the two generations as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What I’m interested in are your opinions regarding performance, room, and ergonomics. For a given category/item, would appreciate if you can provide feedback such as:
“C6 is much better”
“C6 is a little better”
“C6 and C5 are about the same”
“C5 is a little better” or
“C5 is a lot better”

I am looking for above ratings for things such as:
1. Acceleration from a stop
2. Acceleration from a highway roll
3. Braking
4. Handling
5. Ride quality (smooth, quiet, feel connected to the road)
6. Road noise (both with top on and off)
7. Parking (don’t laugh)
8. How’s visibility from the cockpit in all directions
9. Seat comfort
10. Leg room
11. Head room
12. Room in hatch area (coupe) or trunk (vert)
13. Ergonomics/layout of controls in cabin
14. Touch and feel of controls
15. Touch and feel of interior materials such as seats, dash, center console, etc.
16. HUD
17. DIC
18. Fit and finish. Overall build quality.
19. Paint quality
20. Clearcoat quality (is it still soft)
21. Any disappointments with the C6 so far.
22. Anything you miss in the C6
23. Anything you wish GM had included in the C6 coupe/vert (e.g., more HP)
24. Are the differences between the C5 and C6 significant enough to have made the C6 purchase worthwhile to you.

If you can also mention what C5 you had/have (coupe, vert, Z06), suspension (base, Z51, F45, F55), auto/M6 and the C6 you now have to help frame your comparisons.

Just look at the 2005 it looks like a Ferrari at a quarter of the cost

Yeah, the C6 has what could be considered Ferrari design cues in places. But it looks nothing like a Ferrari. One look and you know its a Vette.

The current newstand edition of "Vette" magazine has a nice C6 review. The reporter/author is a 2000 C5 owner and also drives his son's C5 Z06 alot, so he has some nice comparisons... If you happen by a newstand or bookstore, pick up a copy. It's a good read.

Thanks. Sounds like a good source and will pick the issue up. Reason for my post is that I am looking for feedback from actual owners of these 2 generations.

this is C5 Z51 to C6 Z51
1. better Has a more Z06 like feel
2. better Has a more Z06 like feel
3. Feels the same but is suppposed to be better.
4. Handling feel more willilng to go on the edge & more predictable
5. Z51 ride is much better ride than C5
6. noticably quieter.
7. Parking is easy seems like C5
8. visability feels about the same except maybe the blind area is a lil more cause the car slopes up towards the rear
9. Seat much more supportive and not flimsy but a lil to firm in the butt. Maybe i need to gain a lil weight!
10. I'm 5'4" Plenty of leg rm
11. Head room same as above
12. Coupe hatch is not as deep toughr to get a sub under the targa!
13. Ergonomics/layout simaliar but improved
14. Touch and feel of controls similiar but improved
15. Touch and feel of interior materials such as seats, dash, center console, etc. much improved
16. HUD improved w/G meter and NAV big plus!
17. DIC very simaliar
18. Fit and finish. Overall build quality. better
19. Paint quality better on some worse on others
20. Clearcoat quality (is it still soft) don't know yet seems lie it!
21. Any disappointments with the C6 so far. Polished wheel not as chrome like as before!
22. Anything you miss in the C6. I miss the nicer polishing of the wheels
23. Anything you wish GM had included in the C6 coupe/vert (e.g., more HP) more HP is alway nice but this feels great
24. Are the differences between the C5 and C6 significant enough to have made the C6 purchase worthwhile to you. definately!!!!!

P.S. have owned several vettes and driven numorous Z06's. The new car w/Z51 is much like 01 Z06 with targa better ride and lot of creature features! The 04 Z06 is still faster but it is negligable for daily driving would only make a diffence on the track. Now if you are race inspired get current Z06 or even better get the 06 C6 Z06!!!!

I just picked my 05 up today and I have a '01. The only thing I don't like about the 05 is the plastic moulding around the center console...It would have been much better if they used brushed alluminum instead of painted plastic.

I had an 01 C5 auto coupe with base suspension, my C6 is auto with F55.
C6 is much better in all areas except: have not driven with the top off yet so I can't comment on that. Room in the hatch looks the same except there is no center storage and with the top stowed, there is room under the top to stow things. Only disappointment is not being able to enter a new destination into Nav when car is moving. I wish GM would have included MP3 capability with the Nav. The C6 purchase was definitely worth every penny and I absolutely love it!
