Heads Up Display-Do you like it?
Am I the only person that doesn't like the heads up display? I have it on my 01 and I've not cared for it from day one. I kept looking at it instead of the road! I dimmed it out long ago, and forgot I even had it. I'm about to order a C6 vert, and want the power top, but can't get it unless I opt for the 1SB package which includes the HUD.

I love the HUD in my 02.
Maybe that's because I grew up playing video games and I'm used to having guages scattered around my field of vision.
The C5 HUD is simple enough so that you can tell what speed you're going by using peripheral vision without having to look directly at it, which I think is the idea. I think the track modes on the C6 are the same way but I can't remember what they look like.

I love the HUD on my C5. If you want a power top and have to order 1SB to get it just turn it off the HUD like you did on your C5.

Yes, a lot of useless stuff. Who needs a hot *** anyway? I'm the only driver so don't need the memory settings. I don't see anything in the ISB package that makes it worth the $2995 and I would still have to pay $1995 to get the power top. You do lose a little brag-ability. People seem to be so impressed with the HUD for some reason when I show it to them. Thanks for reminding me to KISS! Good advice because as soon as the factory warranty expires, get ready to spend some real bucks if any of that goes bad. My warranty expired Feb 04 and little things are starting to happen already, turn signals, gas gauge, etc.

All the more reason to try to get GM to go back to offering more and smaller options packages, but probably won't happen.

im not used to them, an dwhen i drive a car with it, i do find it a little bothersome, but not really, but when i run track, HUD id the worst, other than having something in your face, your really not suppossed to know how fast your going due to the fact that it might scare you (basic rule of thumb, taping a cover over the speedo).
I dont feel it is nightmarish im everyday driving, but im sure theres a way to disengage it. Obviously you have no choice but to order it with the package, but im positive you can disengage it.

I love it!
I even use it at the track. For upshifts I use the analog tach because it is more accurate, but at the end of straights I can guage when I have to start braking by the speedo on the HUD while I can still keep my eyes through the turn.

I've come to like the HUD on my 04 more than I did with my 00. Part of that may be that I became accustomed to my C4's digital dash and the HUD seems more "normal". C6's intergrates with more features like NAV, etc. For me now it's a must have. Will probably be a resale plus now that more are familiar with it after the C5 generation.

I have the HUD display in my C5 and it is worth every penny.
I really notice how much I miss the HUD when I have to drive another car and then I realize how often I have to take my eyes off the road to see the gauges.
Anything that keeps a driver's eyes on the road is a good thing.

I think that most of us would like GM to go back to pick and choose option. I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Have had a HUD since 1992 (Bonneville SSE) and got it in my 98 GTP. When I bought the 02 C5 used last year it had it or I wouldn't have even considered buying it. When I drive a car without it I really miss it -- can't seem to find the speedometer. HUD gives you instant speed check when you see a cop.
You would pay $2,000 for a power top? You must be a girl or over 80.
