Picture of "New" Front Lic Holder
These pictures were taken by fellow at Mosport this past weekend. Good views of the "newer" design I guess. By newer, I mean that is put on with 3 pices of double sided tape, no screws. At least it can be painted body color to hide it a bit.

That is so much better.
Chevrolet will sell you one body color for $65 so you don't have to get it painted.
It's the same one as before but with tape/glue like the C5 body side moldings so you know if you had to use it, it can be removed without harming the paint.
I'll still run without it and see what happens.

Still looks like CR@P. I am in a front plate required state and when I get a C6 (next year) I will not ever put that plate frame on my car. Either I will not use a front plate and risk ticket or put the front plate on the dash in the windshield glass.

I drove a sports car in Ohio for 10 years (75,000 mi.) without the front plate--no problems (maybe just lucky)

I live in a state that requires a front plate. It all depends on the officer wanting to stop you or not. I had an Eclipse for 8 years, never had the plate on, no problems. My wife has G35, she got a ticket a couple of months ago for no plate. Officer was running radar and decided for what ever reason to pull her over and give her a ticket (but not for speeding). G35 has the same issue, the factory plate holder requires you to drill holes in the bumper. No way I was doing that and the misses was very opposed to that. Luckily, the front of the G35 has a place in the center for a tow hook placement. It is a threaded solid metal body attached to the frame. This is covered by a little plastic cap on the front bumper that is the same color as the car. You take the cap off to expose the threads. Someone out there came up with a threaded rod that has a plate holder attached to it. We left this on for 3 months while she underwent deferred adjudication. That was over yesterday and I was instructed to promptly take off the plate and replace the cap. Bingo, no holes drilled and still can put on a plate. Granted, she gets pulled over again, she's paying the court costs for the ticket.

BTW, I thought that was the standard $15 plate mount they showed us a couple of months ago. The body colored mount was presented as an option for (yuk) "improved looks."

Yes, that's got to be the logical thing to do. We are supposed to use a front plate here in CA but I drove my 300ZX Turbo for nine years without a front plate and never got a ticket. For something this hideous looking, I'm willing to push my luck further.
