C6 Body Kit for a C5 possible?
After studying the c6 spy shots, I started thinking about how easy it would be to build a kit to make a C5 look like a C6. I honestly don't like replica kits of any kind, to me, its almost like ricing up a perfectly good grocery getter. Nevertheless, far more intricate kits for the C5 are sold so my feeling is that a C6 kit would not only be feasible but profitable for anyone who makes it since there probably will be alot of people who would want to be seen cruising around in a C6 but only spend 20k for a used c5 and the kit. Do you think it'll happen?

Absolutely. Probably an easier gen-up kit than any previous generation.
The butt would be longer, and the doors won't have the same cut, and I bet few kits would bother replacing the stock C5 coupe hatchback or the roof or halo, but it'll probably look a lot less awkward than the C4-C5 kits.

Sure....someone will do it. They made C5 conversion kits for the C4's. It won't work perfectly because the wheelbase is different and overall dimensions are off a bit, but to the untrained eye I don't think it'd be hard to make a convincing kit. But I doubt they'll ever be populer though. Too much work to end up with a car that most people wouldn't touch

I don't know about an entire body kit, maybe something just for the rear on the C5. I would be definately interested in something like this. :)

I'll never understand why people spend money to specifically decrease the value of their car.

Re: C6 Body Kit for a C5 possible? (Scissors)
I was thinking the same thing last evening. I would love to have a C6. My '98 C5 has 58,000 miles on it and runs like the day I bought it new. I didn't buy it for its resale value but to drive and enjoy. A body kit would allow me to get even more value/enjoyment from a perfectly good car. It would freshen up the appearance and allow for maybe six or eight more years of driving enjoyment. I would guess that this could be accoplished at a fraction of the cost of trading on a C6. I am guessing that the trade up cost to me would be in the 27,000.00 range versus the cost of a kit and installation. I would hope that when a kit is done, or should I say kits, that someone does it with the exposed headlights.

I may just want the front or headlight conversion if thast possible. Can anyone send me pics of the C6 BTW? I didn't get to them before they removed them. send to srebnick@fau.edu.

i'm not a fan of body kits, but i bet it would look much better than the c4-c5 monstrosity.

I'm surprised the RICE police haven't jumped on this. I'm sorry but I think the idea is a :nono: :mad  :boxing
A C5 is what it is. A C6 is what it is. Making a C5 into a pseudo C6? Why not just make it into a McLaren F1? Because it's ridiculous right? Right.
JMHO.

Why do you need "fresh" body work to enjoy a great car? Is the C5 not a beautiful machine?
Maybe I'm strange, but I find I like the lines of my cars more the longer I own them. A well-penned automobile is something that becomes more beautiful the longer you look at it.

You decreased the value of your car once u drove it off the lot....

Edit: To dumb my statement down for you so you can understand it; you pay the dealer to own the car, not to devalue it. The car will devalue with age on its own, but it's not going to suddenly sprout a body kit on its own that devalues it further.

Bad idea , but hey someone bought that Bullwinkle rear spoiler too right?
I say if you want a C-6 buy one. The resale value on any car with the kit would be very low and eveyone who really ownes a C-6 would know it is a poser car and be :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: at you.
