Default Targa or Dougle Tops

In a recent post another member stated that a dealer friend that had seen the C6 at Vegas said that it had two tops like the 70s T-tops instead of one like the current Targa. He was unsure if it was an actual T-top and had a bar in the middle or if it was completely open with just two pieces. Again this is just here-say but what would you rather see on the coupe? Targa or T-Top?

Targa. T-tops are just way too low-rent, ugly, inconvenient, and leaky (more points of contact mean more places it can leak.)

Gotta be Tarrga. I have a C3 and can say that the one-piece unit in the C5 is superior in every way.

It should be a Targa top , and fit behind seats like on my Ferrari 308.

There's no way it will ever go behind the seats.

Targa, but there may be merit to the claim. What might have happened was the targa top was off when the C6 was shown to dealers. BUT there was a bar that would make you think it's a T-top, and the bar is for added stiffness to make them able to hydroform some of the frame thinner, or possibly for aluminum.

I'd loved to have the added stiffness and weight reduction, but I sure hope its just like the C5. I remove my top ten times more in my C5 then I did in my C4 b/c of its ease. T-tops would be a step back in my opinion. And, I sure hope there is not a bar in the middle. :nono: That kills the whole feeling. What am I Driving my old Trans Am again :nonod:

If they can save 100 lbs of weight by adding a bar...then I'm all for it.

It might be like those one piece plexi panels for the C3. It simply covers the bar. It doesn't ruin the open air experience all that much.

So if we can't have pop-up headlights, we can go back to T-Tops.....welcome to the 1970s and early 80s....

But hey, years of heritage we are talking here.....why they got rid of the T-Tops with the C-4, I don't know. Sacreligious. <sarcasm>

And I think they are going back to the old tried and true wooden wheels and if you sugestion is correct I think that crank windows and single exhaust that splits off to two mufflers would be really

I'll take the manual crank type windows in place of the power windows. Lower the price by making things like that, extra cost options.

in either case, i like what GDP was talking about. A a targa top with a bar running in the middle would be great. as long as it's skinny. i don't like how thick the bar is on my friend's '02 SS.

If I wanted more stiffness at the cost of open-air motoring I'd get a Z06.

Or I'd just leave the top on.

T-Tops? T-Roof? Suck. Halfass. Weak.

T-tops and the T-roof were born as a last-minute hack because C3 was too wiggly. They're finally dead. They should never return.

If it's not a one-piece top with a one-piece opening, there may as well be no opening at all.

Fine, but if there was a bar running down the center for stiffness to allow for hydroformed aluminum frame pieces, would you make the compromise? For 100+ lbs, I certainly would.
