Just Got SCAMMED
6 May - An ad for Lloyd Mats was a total SCAM! Unfortunately, I didn't catch it in time, and didn't realize PayPal will not cancel payment if you send it "friends and family". Sounded perfectly legit initially, but unfortunately didn't catch it soon enough. Out $100...my bad. So, just posting this as an alert. This is the Lloyd posting:

Here is what I will do, the guy who got scammed and decided to attack me, call me, I sent you a PM! I will give these mats to you for free, and pay the shipping! Sorry you got scammed! But, but these mats are yours! Just try and resolve issues before your attack someone’s reputation! Check your PM, I sent you my phone number!

If someone won't take paypal goods and services that's the only sign you need to not deal with them. Scammers exist because people continue to send money with no recourse if things go wrong.

The seller has been a forum member for 15+ years and takes another member for $100? There’s got to be more to this than just a simple scam.

Yeah I'd be willing to guess this is a miscommunication thing... OP why do you believe your being scammed?

No matter, one should NEVER send PPFF for that reason. If the seller won't take the $3.00 hit for using PayPal, then it's a non starter. If you want the item, tell the "cheap" seller, that you will add the 3% PP fee so you can have the PayPal insurance. If they don't agree to that, then bye bye!

Sorry you lost money to a scammer. The seller doesn't fit the pattern of the scammers we typically see. It's likely you sent money to a scammer who noticed your interest in the mats and PMed you with payment information hoping you wouldn't realize he wasn't the actual seller. That is a frequent pattern we see from scammers. I note there was a scammer active in the sales thread, 98Pace, and he was banned. The database shows you were sent three warnings about scammers who had contacted you by PM.

Yea it sounds to me like someone intervened here. The seller is online now so maybe reach out and see what is going on. My guess is is has no clue that you paid someone for those mats.

You may have sent it to the wrong person. I bought something from on here and sent the money and the seller said he didn't receive the money. Upon further investigation i found that i had one letter off in the sellers account. Straightened that out, paid again and got the product but paypal never did give me my money back from where i sent it to the wrong person. And the wrong person never would credit it back like he should have either.250 dollar mistake. Now instead of asking for their paypal info i have them send me an invoice.

The original seller of the floor mats now has a C7 so he may not be here on the C6 forum much so I sent him a pm explaining what has happened, hopefully he will chime in and clear his name.

Sounds like HE got scammed by someone else! I ALWAYS PM my phone number to any buyer and personally talk with them on the phone! I do the same thing when I buy something from a forum member. This way, we are connected in everyway with the sell! If someone is not willing to talk to me on the phone, I'm not buying or selling! I have owned 16 corvettes, bought and sold hundreds of items, Retired LEO and own Kdogs customes corvette's garage! $100 means nothing to me, but my reputation is priceless! This pisses me off beyond words!
