Heater Duct Doors
Hello Everyone,
Had a strange thing happen on my trip from South Carolina to Maine this weekend. I started hearing a faint motor whir and then a little pop. This would repeat 7-8 times then stop. It would then recur from time to time. I noticed it even when the car wasn't on or running.
I suspect it is the heater duck door that is not operating properly. The A/C and heat appear to work but I don't seem to be able to change the vents the air comes from, again because the duct door (or doors) are not operating properly.
I have a 2005 C6 coupe with 6 speed. Currently has about 78,000 miles on it.
Has anyone encountered this problem and if you have is it difficult to fix?
Thanks

Sounds like the mode valve broke. You may get lucky and just need an actuator. If not,you are looking at a VERY expensive fix unless you can tackle this yourself.I just went through this and the mode valve seems to be no longer available.Sorry for the bad news. The actuator can be replaced through the glove box.The valve requires the whole dash assembly to be removed Several posts with good pictures on here somewhere.

Does anyone know which fuse is for the motors that close the heat ducts? I tried #28 but I am still hearing the duct motors trying to move the doors.
Thanks!!!!

The only fuse I know of for the HVAC motors is the one in the passenger footwell but it powers the controller which in turn controls the motors. It is marked HVAC/PWRSDR.
