Default Radar Detectors that work with Blend Mount

Which are the best radar detectors that work with the Blend Mount mirror tap? I'm having my dash cam installed in a couple of weeks, and was thinking about doing the radar detector at the same time.

Should be any of them Ed, radar detectors only need a 12V + and - connections. Here’s the pin out for the mirror connector, pin 8 being the ground, and pin 13 being the 12v+. Keep in mind this will only power the detector/camera when the car’s running, and no power in acc. mode.

Ok, then I guess the next question would be, what are the better radar detectors out on the market now?

I have passport 9500ix and it hasn’t failed me yet. Also had a valentine one for years, it was great but died after 10years. I loved the valentine, told me if it was front or rear which was nice .

I'm using the Valentine 2, upgraded from the Valentine 1 a couple of years ago. I have it mounted under the rear view mirror as well. It works great, has front/rear and side to side warnings. It can also be linked to your phone, but I never used that mode. The warning tones from the detector and the indicator lights on it are fine for me.

Best advice I can give you, a hidden unit (something like the Valentine One Remote), since if you do get pulled over for speeding, and have a visible radar detector at the rear view mirror that the officer sees, your going to get a ticket, verse maybe a warning for a few miles over if the officer likes you instead.

Hence visible radar detector is just screams I speed all the time, and you officer, just lucked out by just catching me this time.

As much as it pains me to say out loud (big Valentine fan here), Uniden R7 or R8 hands down; not sure when they lost their edge at Valentine (and yes, I've had 2 V1 gen2 so I know) but Uniden all the way 100%.

I am selling my V1 gen 2 from 2022 in brand new condition with all current firmware for $525 shipped to lower 48 for anyone interested. Not a bad unit obviously, just too noisy for me with all of the BSM etc. and no GPS functionality. PM if interested.

I guess only if you live in a commie state. Gotta love those liberals.

No problems in the great state of Florida with radar detectors. Police are wonderful. (Check your state laws.)
Great youtuber on this - "Vortex Radar"

Most expensive-
Uniden R8
Escort Redline 360c

Medium Cost-
Valentine One
Uniden R4

I second this. I don't live in a "commie" state but still agree that cops usually don't like to see speed detection devices in a car they pull over.

My 9500x tucks neatly at the top of the windshield under the visor. Can't see through the top windshield tint, or by a LEO standing at my door.

And police can be pretty cool if they want. I blasted, about 20 over, by a cop who was in the fast lane "hidden" between two cars. Pulled me over and my excuse was that I don't get my C6 out often enough and was just "blowing out the cobwebs". He sent me on my way uncited.

Ed, I personally have Escort detectors myself, Escort even makes on that’s a detector and camera in one, it’s not cheap though .https://www.escortradar.com/products...0MAXCAM%20360c I suggest shopping around to find one with the features and price you want to pay, then take it from there.

525 is a little steep..might as well buy a new one for 599 and get a warranty with it.

Do you have a pic of your setup? I'd love to see how you guys mounted your detectors.

Here's how my Valentine is mounted. It slides into the mount and can easily be pulled out. In the 7+years I have owned this car I have never had an issue with PD pulling me over so I can't say if they would cite me for having a radar detector in the car, but then again, when I have it active I get plenty of warning so by the time I see their patrol car I'm not doing anything that would give them a reason to pull me over.

Did the mount come with the radar detector? That's a pretty slick setup.

I’m lucky enough to have the mount that Blend Mount used to make specifically for the C6’s, however regrettably they quit making then for some reason. You might be able to find a used one on eBay or something, but I wouldn’t hold your breath. There was a thread I saw a while back where someone was 3-D printing one that looked similar to the one Blend Mount used to make, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tor-mount.html If you do get the 3-D printed version, you might have to make some brackets to adapt the main part of the mount, to your specific detector.

This is a photo of what the Blend Mount one looks like, but like I say, good luck finding one.

That's the one I have for my Valentine One (obviously the bottom part is different for the V1). The main reason I have not upgraded to the new Valentine is they changed the mounting. Seems really dumb to me to change that just enough for the new models to not fit the old mounts. I can't be the only one who hasn't upgraded because I'd have to replace every mount.

No worries!

The good news is your Gen 2 V1 works just fine with your existing blend mount(s). You just replace the bracket that connects the V1 to the blend mount, and that bracket is supplied with the V1. If you want to use your new Gen 2 V1 in more than one car you can get more brackets from Valentine, and they're cheap.

It's the blend mount, but with the bottom bracket section made to fit the Valentine.
