Default Z51 or not

I have the window sticker from my 08 base model. It says I have the Magnetic selective ride control option. W/ larger cross drilled brake rotors. But I have 19" and !8" wheels. Do I have the z51 option. Or do I just have the Z51 Brakes??

Look on the RPO code sticker in the glove box. It will have Z51 for that option and should have J55 for brakes.

Ditto, look at glove box sticker for RPO code Z51, since may just find that the car has only F55 MRC and J55 brakes options alone, and not the rest of the Z51 options.
And just a hint, but Z51 did not come with F55 option in 08, so car is not a Z51 option car.
Hence Z51 car has Fe3 suspension, and in regards to the F55 cars, Z51 suspension would be too stiff for tour mode in MRC to be effective.

Also GS came out in 2010, to replace the Z51 option base cars factory built for autocross, and it was not until the GS model that you could get it with MRC/F55 that worked with the tighter suspension.

Here is the order guide for 2008. And as stated, F55 was not available with Z51.

If you have Mag Ride Suspension (F55) you DO NOT have the Z51 option as they could not be ordered together in 2008.

The F55 option included the J55 (large) brakes.

Correct. In fact, it was never available on Z51 cars until the 2011 Grand Sport (2010 didn't have the option either). I'm pretty sure earlier Z06s also didn't have the option. I would bet it was the ZR1 research and development that made it possible to adapt to other models.

That kit appears to be for JL9 base with 325MM (12.8") front rotors. So would not fit your F55 with J55. You need 340MM (13.386") rotors. 14" (355MM) rotors are for the J56 brakes on Z06's

For the PowerStop Z26 Warrior Front Kit.....your J55 should use part number K5158-26

I'll tell you what, I just installed these Z26 Street Warrior brakes on my Grand Sport, and they are absolutely phenomenal. Although during the break-in period, they really stink like a truck with hot brakes. It makes it worse that it was a nice day Sunday when I did the burn-in procedure and had the top down.

Same brakes on my GS. When I did the burn in on a nice vacant county road, it was the first time I’d really exercised the brakes on that car. I remember thinking on the 5th pass that if I keep this up, I’m going to pass out from the forward G forces. I was grateful that the next 5 passes weren’t that aggressive. Dry road, wide rubber, 20 pistons squeezing those discs, the stopping power is really impressive.

I called Power Stop and they are telling me the number I want is K-1418 and the previous post says K-5158. I am confused on what to order. I have the J-55 and F-55 codes. Short of taking the wheels off and measuring the rotor, do I have 12.8" or 13.4" rotor?

  • JL9 rotors - Front 325mm/12.8"; Rear 305mm/12"
  • J55 rotors - Front 340mm/13.4"; Rear 330mm/13"
So later is the size of your rotors with the J55 brakes.

They are likely only looking at the same info you can get from their website here

Choices are Standard Brakes, Z06 or Z51. So they are probably not as educated on the different C6 brake systems (and are giving you incorrect info) as many on this forum are. You have your answer.
