Default Checking back in, another C6

Well it has been a while. I sold my 07 C6 base about 2 years ago. We moved around and finally settled down again. I just got a 12 Grand Sport and drove it home from Florida. Nice car, overall really nice, just a couple of minor issues. Garage remote does not want to cooperate with my garage opener and I’ll search the forum for a fix. One question you guys can advise on. I got zero maintenance records with the car. Only has 13,500 mile and the oil change sticker says it was last done in 02 about 800 miles ago. I am thinking minimum it needs oil, filter and radiator flush. Does age affect transmission, brakes, power steering and differential? Am willing to do it all, just wanted to get other opinions. Thanks and glad to be back.

If that was my car I would change out all fluids for peace of mind. I would address the oil amd coolant first.

If you have a newer garage opener you may have to buy a repeater to make it work.

I think Genie is the only one left that supports old and new technology.

first and foremost, oil change and radiator flush and new antifreeze. I would also check all the fluids. Peace of mind is very inexpensive. Also, how old are the tires? If they are at least 7 years old, it's time to change them. Welcome back...be safe!

The only maintenance records I got with my 2011 Grand Sport were in the Carfax report, so other than oil changes (and tires in 2020 and the low-beam headlamp recall in 2014) I went under the assumption that all other fluids were original and over 11 years old. It also had the original problematic clutch master cylinder. So the first week of ownership, I had the master cylinder updated and had all fluids replaced front to rear just to start fresh.

Good luck. And congrats on the Grand Sport. Welcome to the club!

Very nice find. Congratulations! Looks like an aftermarket hood there as well.
And yes, I would change/flush all fluids. Replaced tires if it still the original. Silicone grease the targa rubber seal as well as the doors and rear hatch. Then treat the car by replacing all light bulbs with LED’s

Be advised that GM changed from the original Homelink GD opener to another manufacturer around 2011-2013.
The Lear system was a PITA , was troublesome and GM went back to Homelink 2014 to present.
When I had my 2013, I had to get a new HL transmitter on eBay and install it into the Sunvisor.
Not sure even the original HL transmitter works with the Security 2 update for GD systems that came out
around the same time.
Any HL transmitter from 2014 on from any vehicle should work. I converted mine with one from a 2020 Alfa Romeo.
Good luck.

I have a very old Sears garage door opener that I bought back in 1980. The remotes are programmed via dip switches. My 2013 GS Corvette programmed just fine with the old opener. Following the instructions in the 2013 owners manual, I programed all 3 buttons to operate the same opener. My only complaint is that I have to pull up right to the garage door for it to work. I should increase the length of the Sears control unit antenna to see if that makes a difference.
My Sears control unit looks exactly like this one, only mine is in great shape.

I just got a 2010 base and could not get the opener to program for my newer chamberlins. Gave up and just used the remote. I assumed it was me and not the car, but now from reading this thread I think it might be the car....

Welcome back and congratulations on your new GS. Nice looking big garage you have (compared to mine!) and a great looking stable.

Thanks for posting the link, but this does not work for me. For now I have just put an additional remote in the car and may buy the interface.
