3 main types of battery to consider for your car. Listed in price order: flooded lead-acid, AGM (absorbent glass mat), Gel. I chose AGM only to avoid any possible issues with acid leakage from the battery (Gel will also not leak acid). They will all provide good performance if maintained properly and would last an average of 4-5 years. If you want flooded lead-acid, Walmart is a good source for price. If you want AGM, I bought mine through Sams club and the price was decent. If you want Gel, good luck, they are all expensive. So shop around for price, because after all, it is a battery.

I use lead acid. Never had one leak in anything I own. I use Interstate Battery because they are near by and are as good as anyone else.
The AC Delco can sometimes be had at dealers cheaper than anywhere else.

Just bought an Optima Red past Monday to replace a NAPA Legend.
I've read the threads here and did my research and my conclusion is that not all batteries are the same. Just because Optima was bought out by 1 of the 3 manufacturers doesn't mean their processes changed. These cars can be tough on batteries, I'd put some thought into this.

I just replaced an auto zone battery that was 6 1/2 years old. Got it from a local wholesaler for $119. It is lead acid. They have their own name on it. Seems high quality.

I'm currently running AGM in my Grand Sport and have run Gel in the past with previous Corvettes. Anything liquid in the extreme heat of Houston, Texas area summers doesn't last long. Batteries in my other vehicles (especially those that sit outside and not in the garage) last on average 2-3 years. So far, though, my 2021 Sierra that I bought in February, 2021 still has the original battery. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts especially with a diesel and stop/start technology (that I turn off most of the time).

Consumer reports tested batteries, and Wal Mart came out on top of the list. So did Project farm on You Tube. Personally, I've had bad results with Optima and will never buy one again.
Wal Mart Group size T5 is what fits the C6. $159 with a three year replacement warranty.

Just bought a battery for my C-6 and it was a Walmart Ever-Start Group 85/35 AGM for 179 +Tx with a 3 Yr. warranty. Supposedly Ever-start is one of the best performing batteries out there. I used to buy nothing but Interstate until Ever-start toppled them.

I went with Optima Red 35, got it for $203.99 from my Interstate Battery rep, 3 year free replacement. Sounds like a bunch of people on here had descent luck with all different types and brands. I bought my Corvette with the Optima in it. Had a 3/21 date code on it, kinda surprised I had to replace it last month, especially since it's on a tender all winter. You win some, you lose some, but I'm in the mindset that a battery is a battery. I checked prices and went with the Optima just because I got a good deal through my supplier through the dealership I work at. Otherwise that Optima is $264.99 at O'reilly Auto. I have also never had a battery leak so I wouldn't hesitate with lead acid. I did figure the Optima might hold up better with the Wisconsin winters, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Go to Walmart and tell them to replace your battery.

I put in a red top optima and couldn't be happier. (it is a bit expensive tho) All the tinkering around the garage and stereo/subwoofer tuning i tend to end up with a dead battery often, but this one holds up seemingly forever and cranks strong. Nothing more annoying than a dead battery on a vette with the doors and all.
Im sure its already been said but Def get the sealed. If you dont, when they get old they leak and you have the ECM, wiring harness, VERY important stuff under the battery that can be ruined.
Also when you swap out the battery i would recommend a baking soda slurry clean out, just in case your previous leaked should neutralize most leaks.

I don’t know how you can make that statement. A lead acid battery can leak but the odds of that happening are very slim. I don’t know how many of these batteries I have had in my lifetime but never had a failure in cars, trucks, boats, atvs. So I continue to use them with 100% confidence.

Get whatever battery you want, but we throw gobs of money at all the other upgrades, why not the thing that has probably stranded you 3x more than any other component.
