Hi,
We have a 2007 Corvette Couple with this engine. Does anyone know if GM still support this engine, and if so, for how much longer?
As opposed to the older 5.7 L, and the newer 6.2 L, understand that the 6.0 L LS2 was just "a parentesis", i.e. only used in the Corvette from 2005 through 2007.

If the question is parts short of block or 243 heads, then yes.
If you mean new LS2 crate motor from GM, then no.

The LS2 is part of a big engine family with significant parts interchange. The same block and heads are used in other cars including a whole lot of trucks. Gaskets, bearings, oil pumps, water pumps, springs, rockers, valves, cams, rods, injectors, coils, sensors, etc. are readily available. Most of them fit lots of other engines.

It's true GM doesn't sell LS2 crate engines any more, and I don't think you can get new blocks or heads, but there is abundant used inventory. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens to the LS3 in the next few years.

It's getting hard to find oversized hypereutectic pistons, so if you're doing a rebuild and want to bore 0.010" over, you may have to use forged pistons. That's a kind of special case.

The LS2 is the one part of your 2007 Corvette that is likely to remain serviceable longer than anything else. If you're concerned about parts availability, worry about ABS, steering, computer modules, and exterior and interior parts. Many of those pieces have been discontinued for years.

GM has been supporting the small-block pushrod engine for 70 years. You should be fine.

As others said.....worry instead about finding a body control module when the time comes.

Agreed, the actual engine as such is not my main concern, but select parts is.

The car has transmission problems - plus a couple of oil leaks, and depending on what's causing it, we are looking at either a rebuild or a new transmission - apparently a 50/50 chance of an internal crack. Parts is not a problem here though.
Love the C6 body style, and right now going back and forth between repair and trading her for a 2010, which has the new 6.2 L.

The shop we went to specializes in Corvette, and the owner told us about the parts issue with the LS2, specifically mentioning the computer (ECM). Not a show stopper per se, but long lead time to get it fixed IF it fails.
