I finally got the workbench I have always wanted!
Yes, it’s a workbench right now. Lol
Once I get it leveled and filled, the Vette will be on it.
Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks tot hose that suggested this over a 2 post
My pleb garage is almost going to be usable now. Slow progress
(Before anyone says it, yes I am aware my garage door opener is low. Next on the list is to raise the tracks and go side mount with torsion bar)

Apparently no one actually reads posts and just looks at pictures and assumes everyone has no clue
I have spent plenty of time planning this out and building this. I am very well aware of what my garage needs to accomplish my
goals. Lol

Looks of goodies in those pictures! I don't think I have seen garage door springs on the track like that before. I always see single or double springs right above the door.

Once this thing is done I can get my other projects done.
i have longtubes and x pipe, morimoto fogs, new wheel well liners, new badges, GS armrest and I think some other things.
This was the first on the list to get done

Curious if you have safety cables on your garage door extension springs? When the springs eventually break, and they will, it will sound like a gun shot and they will go flying across the room and tear a hole in your car or your head, which ever is in the way. Ask me how I know

PMPerformance,
After you raise the garage door tracks and configure the across-the-opening tortion springs as you mentioned, you will be in great shape. Good for you!
Are you planning on stacking vehicles?

Pretty sure this is common place. Yes I have them and yes I have had them break on both sides over the ownership of my home

Then plan was to get the lift in first and eyeball it. Anything is better than quickjacks with this thing. In reality, getting under with a chair at this height won’t be overly usable so it’s going to force me to fix the garage door sooner than later.
No real intent on stacking cars at this point. My moods/wants/desires change like the weather though, so a 911 could end up over or under anytime in the future. Lol

I wonder if there is a safe method to doing brake and suspension work utilizing a drive-on ramp system. Those are two common areas of repair and maintenance.
A common/typical 2-post system would address every mechanical need, but the interference of the pillar and arms for entering and exiting the vehicle on an everyday basis would quickly get old.
I volunteer repairing vehicles HERE for under-resourced people. The shop has 6 bays, each with lifts I have never seen elsewhere. They are a 2-post system that comes out of the floor, similar to the very old single post of yester-year. There are no standing posts to get in the way. The video in the link shows the lifts.....scroll down to find that video.

There are plenty of people that work on their cars on these. I am going to be one of them. They come with jack trays. Plus there are sliding jacks.
I will probably do an air jack in the jacking tray as that is the cheaper option and see how that works out for me
Scissor lifts were an option as well, but they can be a pain to sync and unless you get the completely separate ones, there are bars at the bottom and can’t roll a chair over.
This seemed like the less of all the evils
