Default rear lock plug in?

I had to replace my rear hatch lock and was wondering where does it plug into? The one I got was used and has wire coming from it and cant see where it would plug into. Does this need to be plugged in so you can get a new key fob?
Thank You
Vince

Sort of seems like I read that the convertible lock has wires.

Replaced my 2020 coupe mechanism that failed. Dealer tech installed new assembly. It came with a multi pin plug that plugged to one in the car.

No need for new FOB. All functions contriolled by a computer chip in the car. It’s just a dumb device you replace.

I can't tell if you are talking about the actual lock actuator or the lock that the key goes in. Also is this a coupe or vert? Maybe a pic would be beneficial of the part.

Here is pic of mine that was replaced on warranty: Mechanism has a plug attached to the assembly. It's NOT replaceable so Tech bought new assembly and replaced. He was not sure it was the one corroded pin he found or a short. The car has a matching plug.

This pic is not the plug BUT I saw the corroded pin, just did not take Pic. It was a multiwire plug similar to what I show BUT I believe with fewer terminals. It was NOT waterproof like some in the engine compartment etc.

so back to the topic, I have a 2007 coupe and the cable broke for the lock in the back hatch. I bought a used one from C&S corvette and it has the cable and a wire with a plug on he end of it. Does that need to be plugged into something or is it for a convertible? I just cant see anywhere it plugs into.
Thank You,
Vince

I did a search and there was an option on the coupes for having a auto close for the hatch. So my guess is that your car does not have that option and they had a single part that would work for both applications.
