Newbie C6 Owner, advice ?
Hi,
i just bought a C6 convertible.
li am looking for any experienced advice anyone wants to volunteer.
i am 6’2” slim but sit tall in the saddle.
i have read so many “things” that seem to come from non-owners. So I have trust issues on that.
examples…
The $500 fiberglass windscreens are great. They work superb.
Original backup lights suck, change to LED.
Most LED’s suck, they overheat and do not deliver
granite finish is a scam
granite finish is superb
I think I made my point. I am sure some things can be searched and read. But I thought I would say HI and see what the current temperature is on these and other things.

Congrats on your purchase. I'd recommend being more specific on what advice and/or recommendations you're looking for.
If your vehicle didn't come with a maintenance record the first thing you should do is have all the fluids changed.
After that, if you've never owned a Corvette, get familiar with its driving characteristics.

First, congratulations on your first C6. I'm on my third (08 Coupe M6, 12 GS Coupe A6, now a 12 GS Vert M6). IMO the best generation.
To me, the best upgrade you can make is to install a modern head unit with front and rear cameras and Carplay / Android Auto capabilities.
Oh - and pics and details of the new-to-you Vette!

Congrats on your purchase and excellent color choice, I have the same.
In regards to the windscreen I have read they cut down on the buffeting in the cabin. My wife and I just wear a hat and we are good to go. I personally don’t like the looks of the windscreen so it won’t ever be in my car.
I have leds through out my car except low and high beam. No issues to report on what I have done.

Welcome and congrats with the Vette!
Looking good!
You could post some more info bout the car.
Year, Lt package, manual/auto, mods (if there are)
I only have a backup cam installed with a new Kenwood. Front i can "feel " goood.
First things i needed to do;
- Change all fluids
- Bought a Autel AP200. Bluetooth obd reader. Perfect to read and erase codes.
- Bought a Tech2 from China, didnt used it, but perhaps needed in the future
- Replace the harmonic balancer since it was wobbling
- Bought new tires, old ones where ehh old. Enough profile but 12y
- New tpms sensors
- Replace straps of the rearwindow since it was hit by the tonneau cover
- Placed a buffeting screen behind the chairs for quiet open rides
- Bought a set of Z06 mufflers, and let a shop mounted them instead of the Corsa extremes who where on it. (too much for me, i daily the car)
- Placed a Solar performance control unit to select different driving modes. Espescially for bad weather conditions
Do you have issues with the Vette, or all is good?

Hi,
2011 stock convertible, auto, ls3, kenwood touch screen nav and backup camera is the only mod.
no issues, all works well. Seems very solid. Fun.
tires are nowhere near new. Did you replace with Eagles or something else ?
What buffering screen did you use ? I am getting quite a lot of wind. Girlfriend does not like wearing a hat. (But still wants to ride in the vette Hahah)

Yes ! Me too. A whole lot of bang for the buck.
i should have been more specific than such a general question.
i probably have 3 things I am looking at right now.
1. wind deflector, girl friend complaints more than me, but she has a point.
2. backup lights, mine seem very weak. Thought they work.
3. tires are in my near future.

I bought some from Vette Lights who basically have everything you need from a lighting perspective. I used a brand called Auxito for all interior lighting. I used underground lighting bulbs for tail and drl because they have built in resistors. You will tons of comments on lights and can search for yourself to see what is available.

Here in the Netherlands a rear fog light is needed to get it trough yearly Apk examinations.
I ordered the http://sharplightinnovations.com/ wich is a dual setup with some great rear lights.
For the wind deflector https://www.cabriosupply.com/chevrol...lack-2005-2014
That was the best upgrade for open driving. Takes away the buffeting and noise for about 80%. Even open driving at the highway is comfertable now.
Interior led, and exterior leds on my wish list too.

I agree on blind spots when driving, here was my solutions installed years back, just love it, took little to get use to the wide vision you get, easy installations with double sided tape, over your drivers window.

You probably meant Hydro Carbon finish, not granite finish.

I don't know how much seat time you have in a performance car, if this is your first then be extra careful on wet roads or when your tires are cold. If yor decide to turn off the traction control or active handling be prepared for the differnt way the car will behave with them off.
