Default Shipping airbag

Ok I’m at a loss. I posted a few weeks ago my new apsis airbag cover. Now how do i ship back the core? Apparently is highly illegal to just drop an airbag on the post office and neither fedex or ups will touch it. I’d really like to get my core charge back. Anyone have any ideas other than committing a felony?

I wasn't aware the "cover" included the actual air bag.

Have you asked the vendor how to get the core back to them?

I've purchased air bags in the past and they've always just come by Fed Ex. Assume you could ship the same way.

We ship and receive airbag from customers every day and no problem.

Just declare it as auto parts or horn cover.

no fed ex says you need hazmat level 9 training because it contains an explosive to be able to sign off on the package. Post office says felony 10k in fines and possible jail time if they x ray it and trace it back to you. There has to be a way for a private citizen to mail
this stuff

Gotta chuckle about this. The business has been illegally shipping hazardous materials for this whole time.

Hope this link helps.

So you lie on the paperwork and don't list it contains explosives? Seems like a great way to do business and even better to post about it on the internet.

Very interesting indeed. I probably woould have never known this about an airbag. I would have packaed it up and dropped it off at UPS, paid for shipping and off it goes. I would have never mentioned what was in the box and I can't recall ever being asked.

Air bag shipping kit.........

https://www.labelmaster.com/shop/un-...shipping-kits/

There are 11.3 million Google results returned when searching "how to ship an automotive airbag". Give it a try sometime

Feel good about yourself? You can pack it all you want if you can’t ship it then what does it matter?

People ship hazardous materials all the time. I've mail ordered black powder which has to be shipped as hazardous material. That kit is all you need.

While FAUEE's helpful link explains the general postal regulation for transporting all manner of Class 9 hazardous cargo, my link discusses airbag shipments in particular, including UN-approved inner airbag packaging and the exact box labels needed for this type of cargo.

Apologies for my crassness and suggestion to do a search for such a critical topic that, I am guessing, yields more reliable information than a government-worded general postal reg or forum comments from those not in the know.

Why is the vendor shipping a complete assembly to begin with? The airbag is easily removed from the cover and installed into the new one in 5 minutes. No way I'd be giving back the airbag in my car in exchange for one I don't know anything about.

This is the same vendor who both ignores legal shipping requirements of his business and then tells customers to do the same. You're expecting too much, lol.

fair enough. I also don't think that new cover looked that great. What I gathered from the entire experience I witnessed here is that RFE is the way to go.
