Default 2013 GrandSport Rear Plate screw size

Purchase a 2013 Grandsport - drove it from Ohio to Colorado with dealer temp tags on it. The screws they used were caught by one thread and clearly not the right size. I dont have a screw to matchup and find the right size. Can someone help with identifying the correct plate mounting screw size to the rear of the car?

Try a # 10 machine screw.

it’s not a standard size plate screw.

I guess I’ll start with the #10 screw, just figured maybe someone would have a concrete size haha. Thank you.

To begin, what the heck is that on the back?

Here is how the back of my car looks without a license plate.

sidenote....in case anyone wondering about the fastener on the back, it's a Robertson #4 square bit did the job.

When you buy a license plate frame to match your cars color that is the back plate you get. At least that's what I got when I bought mine years ago.

Never seen that kind of back plate before either.

What I would do is get a tap and tap the holes of that back plate. Then you will know exactly the bolts you need. And you will have good threads to secure the plate to.

I guess I didn’t realize this was not factory, it had to be something someone prior added.

If that is the case, you should be able to remove it and go back to factory fasteners. I'm sure you can get replacements for the plastic bumper inserts.

You could do what I did for not too much coin. Any auto parts store should have a simple plate kit. Mine came with a reasonably narrow chrome frame, the correct size of screws, and a snap cover system to cover the screws. I painted the frame and screw caps with a DupliColor rattle can and it matched the body color perfectly. This is about the only pic I’ve got of the rear of the car and maybe it’s enough to get an idea of the result
