Thank you to all for your invaluable insights. I'll keep working at it and hopefully will be posting up my first 9 second time slip soon!

What shock and spring set up are you using?
Dialing down that reaction time and 60’ time these
two devices can play a critical role.

Reaction time has zero effect on the ET.

Did not say it did.

Reaction times don’t matter if you don’t care about going
rounds and winning races.
60’ times play a big part in eventual ET/mph.
Making the car hook and get off the line consistently
Goes hand in hand with both of the above.

Just dropping this here... Good example of gettin' it done with a manual. Note the no lift shifts and how fast he's working the clutch. The gauges get out of synch with the sound due to the doppler effect I assume. Enjoy.
OP you definingly have a 9sec car...

I'm still on stock suspension.

Thanks. I'm definitely not on that skill level yet.

Same thing at the 1/2 mile Indy Airstrip Attack. A couple years ago at 645 whp, ran 155 mph. Then this last August at +/-800 hp, I ran 156 mph. Granted, I was running in a strong head wind this last time at the Airstrip Attack. I know there's a lot of variables at play, but this has been making me wonder. Do I really have 800 whp or am I just not getting the power to the pavement? It sure feels fast as hell when rolling into it on the highway.
Your 1/2 mile speed seems slow for that power level; based on your 1/4 mile speed I would expect you to add about 30mph between the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile, and be in the high 160s. I was also at the Indy event this year, and ran a best of 163mph with 660whp in the NA class. Another Z06 there I know with 600whp ran 158mph. The last couple of years there I ran 155-157mph with 560whp. Traction has little to do with 1/2 mile trap speeds.

However, I think the reason is your stock gearing - the GS drops a lot of RPMs and power when you shift into 5th gear (a long overdrive) at around 150mph, whereas the Z06s are still at the top of 4th gear at the 1/2 mile line. At your power level, have you considered switching to the ZR1 transmission and ratios?
