Very odd. I also have some speckles and am planning on trying these folks:
https://www.radar-mirror.com/mirror_repair/
for a repair. If anybody has any feedback on them, please chime in.

Seriously, that looks like it's freezing lol! How weird. No clue on cause, though. Sorry.

I had Radar-Mirror replace the glass on my '12 GS mirror. My mirror was not nearly as bad as the one in this thread, but still needed replacement. It looked brand new when it was returned and the price was very reasonable. The added benefit is that the "Passenger Airbag" light is now behind the glass, still visible, just not a glaring amber presence in the mirror any longer.
I will say it has been a few years now, but at the time, the owner Scott was not the greatest at communication. He was a one man operation then.
Good Luck.

Someone on one of the Fakebook C6 groups posted this exact thing that happened recently. In all the years I've owned cars I've never seen anything like this. Unfortunately, I can't remember how he fixed it.

This thread may provide insight. Did/do you have anything wired in there like a dash cam or radar detector? Apparently known issue on some of the c8 cars. I know we are c6ers, but this looks exactly the same

It seems that all kinds of patterns can show up in these auto dimming mirrors over time. I also used radar-mirror.com to repair mine. It had what looked liked scratches all over it. Cars in the mirror were hard to make out it was so bad. It looks BETTER than new now. No more cutouts for the compass or the airbag. The graphics are still there and light up with just the text in a full size mirror. It's much brighter than before as well.
New the best price is around $500 for the same mirror with airbag and compass. I have the useless buttons for OnStar but still see $300 plus for others without OnStar and I'm not sure there is a correct substitute without OnStar that has the compass and airbag. I'm really happier with the new mirror more than an original because of the full mirror and the clarity, used ones were near $300 as well.
Yes it did take several days for the turn around and they ship to a residential house. I can only say it was well worth it to me and I would recommend it. I'm very picky being an Engineer and I like it. You get your mirror back from them repaired. I used the two day return which was UPS.
Below are two pictures showing the clarity and what the graphics look like. I could not focus on both at the same time but the graphics always look like the graphics picture. Its just a picture of all my amplifier wiring for my new amp board. The rear window was pure light.
This shows the graphics and they normally look like this.
This is the best image I could get in full sunlight. The graphics also look like the other picture but I can't focus on both.

Second thumbs up for radar mirror. The replacement is far superior to the original, with the original even when it was new in 2011, I could not tell vehicles far behind were police cars or not. With the new replacement mirror from radar mirror, now I can. Crisp clear.

That is beautiful! Should save it as a work of art ><
Ive been kicking around the idea of those video mirrors, might be a good solution for you. Anyone used one?
I did want a loop recording dash cam in case of a accident and/or a dicey police interaction. This seems like it will fit the bill AND give me better vision out of the rear. Really dont want to pull apart everything and run the wires or i would have already done it.
