Default Flood update for the guys that ain’t scared

Aloha gang, it’s been a year and a half since my car was sitting in water up to dash. GEICO totaled it, I bought it back for 8k ( was paid off ) Car cover was on. The headlights were on in the pic because everything was shorting out. Some time, electric cleaner, dielectric grease. Took me about a week. BCM, TCM, ALL electrical plugs, connectors etc. Car still runs perfect a year and a half later

Kudos to you, keeping a nice car out of the scrapyards. Definitely not something I'd do I think. But then again, maybe I would, my Vette is like a 3rd or 4th car, so I guess there's no risk for downtime.

yep, my 3rd car too. I was forced to try, because where it was on the street, I couldn’t removed supercharger, headers, and all the other mods. So I bought it back before they could take it. Luckily I had that week off from work. It all worked out.

You are a better man than me. I would have let it go. Great job on getting it up and running.

Nice job! Were you able to salvage all the original electrical components or did you replace them with parts from other "doner" cars?

Find all the fishes in the dash yet?

J/K though I do wonder if there is any odor from the water.

2023 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Default Props to you for taking on the task

I give you props my friend. I also went through rebuilding a salvage car (not a flood car), and it took a lot of work and patience. Bought it on Craig's List 2 years ago. Went from a salvage to a show winner. Just finished installing Vertical Door kit because of needing more room getting in and out due to arthritic knee. You did great work to save a beautiful car!

My salvage rebuild

yep. Did not replace a single item. Have to use a soft brass brush and alcohol to scrub all the circuit boards

no odor, I took out the carpets, everything was already like new, so just steam cleaned them, same with the foam in the seats, cleaned the leather covers, smells great inside.
