That's not entirely true. There are some modifications that won't pass as there have been for a number of years. I've had my A&A supercharger on for 2 years now, and just had to get it smog checked in February. As long as the car has the CARB certification sticker on it and it meets the criteria there is no issue. I passed my inspection and had no problem getting it through.
