Default Lady needs help getting C6 unlocked

I have an C8 and don't know the answer to this ladies question.
The widow of one of the members of our local Corvette club sent this out. I'm quoting.
"My husband passed away last October. He has a 2013 Corvette. This afternoon I came home & was going to drive it & it wouldn't start. Said battery in the key fob was dead. I left the fob inside the car to go inside to get the spare. When I returned, the door is locked with the key in the car & I can't get in the car. I know there is a key inside the fob but it doesn't seem to fit the place over the license plate. Can anyone suggest how I get inside the car?

There it is folks, does anyone have the answer. PM me if you do & I''ll relay it to the damsel in distress.
Thanks

The key should work in the lock above the license plate, but has to be worked in there if it's never been used. I'd also recommend she turn off the auto lock setting once she gets inside.

Assuming the key is original and fits the lock, she may need to take some WD40, stick the straw into the keyhole, and spray the hell out of it to get the lock loosened up so it will turn.

She can also jack the car up and hook a battery charger up to the starter.

Sometimes license plates frames can prevent the key from turning enough to unlock it.

Have her put a new battery in the second fob.

As Badav suggested...spray some WD40 in the key slot and gently push down on the hatch while turning the key.

Be sure that new fob battery was purchased from some place that sells a lot of them, like Walmart. Some forum members have documented here that several new batteries they bought elsewhere were not full strength.

If desperation sets in..... Pull the driver side outer brake light, drill a small hole into the rear wall and fish a coat hanger into the cab. Then pull the emergency door release. I actually made a pull wire just in case my battery craps out on me (my lock under the plate is seized up)

I would think using an air bladder to wedge the driver window open a tiny amount, then fishing a wire down to the emergency door release handle might be faster and easier.

I've actually seen this done. It's a little tricky but it does work.

This is what the lock popper did when I threw my gym back in the trunk (with the fob in it). Locked myself out of the car. I really like that passive lock function, but every so often it will bite you.

Reason why I made a permanent latch pull...... Just in case. Fishing for the pull would be a pain for sure.

Put a new battery in the other fob and the key does in fact take some work getting it in the slot to open. Had to remove my rear plate and Camera to make it work right.

I 2nd this as it was one of the first things I did when I purchased mine,. It sits in a garage and this feature was annoying, plus I can't get locked out.

I don't mind at all. She called AAA. I don't know what they did.
Thanks again.

put 10 or 12 strips of duct tape on side glass and pull down the window. It’ll open.
