Default Cordless Impact Wrench recommendations

Looking for cordless impact wrench recommendations, mostly for lug nuts - brand name, torque specs, model,...etc
Nothing insane, just a simple tool adequate to zip lug nuts off and on. Less than $200 would work.
The last time i used impact tools it was all air powered.

What is the recommended lug nut torque spec for C6 Corvettes (GS) ?

I have a Milwaukee m18 fuel..it's a beast, it laughs at lug nuts. Honestly, it's almost.too powerful, if you've got something rusted on good, if you're reckless it will snap the **** right off.

If inwas using it for light duty like lugnuts, I'd probably go ryobi. They have a LOT of useful tools on their battery platform. It's also a lot cheaper than Milwaukee stuff

Milwaukee all the way. M18 Fuel 1/2" is a monster.

I guess it depends on how often you use it, and if you already have a particular brand of 20V tools.

My suggestion or question to you is do you already have any 20V tools? If so, it might be best to look at that brand so the battery would be interchangeable.

I have 2 actually. I have a Porter Cable 20V 1/2" impact (model PCC740) and delivers 330 ft/lbs. of torque. It's great for taking off lug nuts, and it's affordable since it's $159 from Tractor Supply.

PORTER-CABLE 20V 1/2 in. Lithium Ion Cordless Impact Wrench, PCC740LA at Tractor Supply Co.

I also have an older Craftsman 19.2V 1/2" impact (model CS1422). I can't remember the torque.

Both work great. I'm sure there are better ones on the market, but I'd say they cost $300 or more.

Make sure you get a correct torque stick with your desired ft lbs. Can’t use it to take lug nuts off but work great to put them on.

I have Dewalt 20V tools so I use one of their 1/2in impact drivers.

I use a 90 ft lb

There are lots of options out there - a lot depends on IF you already have some cordless tools - if you can find an impact that will utilize the same batteries that you already have...

Personally - I have a Milwaukee 2663 - got it on Black Friday special at Home Depot - paid $200 and the kit included a 12V cordless ratchet. It does 300+ ft lb and I haven't yet run into a lug nut that it hasn't removed (but I rarely have wheels installed by "pros" with air impact guns).

I have no 20V tools. Would you prefer the Porter Cable to the Craftsman or call it a draw (if the Craftsman was newer) ?
Do all of the cordless impact wrenches/guns come with a torque preset so that it doesn't snap off lugs nuts ?

I've never heard/seen one of these. I thought a deep well lug nut impact socket is all that is needed ?

This allows you to use the impact to install the lug nuts to the specified torque without fear of over torquing the lug nut. The 90 ft lb will twist when the torque is over 90 ft lbs thereby making it impossible to over tighten the lug nut.

They work great. I have used a torque wrench to verify the torque on the lug nuts.

Also you can not remove the lug nuts with the stick as it takes over 90 ft lbs to remove a lug installed with the 90 lbs stick. It just twist and won’t loosen the lugs.

I use this for my Vettes and truck, works perfectly after a couple of years of abuse, bought it specifically because I was tired of lugging the breaker bar or cranking on lugs. I also use it to thread steel rods. Runs under 200 bucks:

DEWALT DCF894B 20V Max XR Brushless 1/2” impact DEWALT DCF894B 20V Max XR Brushless 1/2” impact
.

Works fine with the base battery (2.0Ah) seen in the picture but I also have a 5.0Ah battery as well for it.

I had the Craftman first and it works fine and I'll call it a draw.....see long story below.

If you don't have any 20V tools but think you might in the future, you might look at DeWalt or the Milwaukee because they probably have over 200+ tools that run on the same battery. The Porter Cable probably has 15 to 20 tools, and I have about 10 so it made sense to buy the Porter Cable.

Long Story...... I had 2 houses (Dallas & San Antonio) and the Craftman was in Dallas. I needed to change some tires when I was in San Antonio, so I bought the Porter Cable because I had recently bought some other Porter Cable 20V tools.
Mine don't have a "preset". I use the impact to break loose the lug nuts. I have a long handle torque wrench to put on and tighten the lug nuts to the correct lbs.

I have a Porter Cable set too. It's OK. Their tool variety is terrible, and the tools are expensive. Doing it over again, I'd have gone ryobi.

UT since I didn't, I ended up with Porter Cable and milwaukee.

My stuff is Dewalt. Batteries last forever and the 1/2” impact handles lugs with ease. I’ve got a couple of Milwaukee tools and they are great too. But I’m a big fan of Dewalt tools.

seems dewalt has stepped up their game lately. I'm definitely impressed. I love my Milwaukee line, but ive trashed several of their drills. My dewalt drill is still going strong.

I think a lot of the recommendations for 18v and 20v tools is a bit overkill. I use the Milwaukee M12 Fuel impact wrench (model 2555-20) and it has plenty of torque. I even used it to take off an axle nut that was on the car for 10+ years without issue.

I have various Bosch. Work well and I found less cost than Milwaukee or Makita. Very good for non professional. Used to have Dewalt but gave them to my daughter. Nothing wrong with them.
