Wild to Mild: Unwrapping
I bought the car not quite a year ago, with the love it or hate camo wrap. I thought it would be the first thing to go, but I got sidetracked with fixing other stuff and left it. Then I kind of got used to it. And my lazy side liked that it was easy to clean and I didn't have to worry about rock chips. It was also kind of fun watching people try to get pictures as I drove down the highway or when I parked it pretty much anywhere. But finally, it had to go. So 6 hours with a heat gun, and it's mostly off. The Arctic White is in better shape than I thought it would be. Buying it wrapped was a roll of the dice, and I expected the worst. Overall, it's not bad for 14 year old car that definitely hasn't been a garage queen. Unfortunately, the hood has some yellowing that won't come out, so it'll need repainting. Apparently, the black in the camouflage + the Alabama sun + engine heat + white paint is a bad combo. The *** end is still wrapped because it got late and I was tired. I gave it a couple of quick washes and a spray wax but I haven't done a full detail yet. It's not as nice as most of the rides here, but I thought I'd share. Be gentle, it's still very much a work in progress.
Before
Some Progress
That was the hardest part
Had to get under the emblem. It was blacked out too and when I took the film off, I realized it was trashed. So no emblem for now. Now no one will know it's a Corvette.
6 Hours Later. Not bad for a few hours with a borrowed heat gun.
Thought about leaving the gas door but I decided not to.

Most unusual wrap I have seen on a C6 Corvette yet. Must have attracted quite a bit of attention and I must say you were brave to have retained the wrap following the purchase. I can also see that it could grow on you once you became use to it, but restoring to the original Arctic White paint is a good move.

Looks better now, but hey I'm biased for white Corvettes with blacked out tops & black wheels.
Were the sections in the wrap that were white part of the wrap, or that was actually the white paint showing through?

The white was part of the wrap. And yes, it definitely looks better now. I'm a big fan of the white with black too. If it wasn't already done, that's what the look I'd be goinng for.

Thank you. It was certainly time well spent. I had asked a local shop that does wraps for a price to remove it. 10 months ago it was $300. 3 days ago, he said $650 (and it would be a month before he could do it). I didn't bother asking about the price difference. But that was all the motivation I needed.

Based on the title I expected an exhaust thread.

Sorry you were disappointed. It was a play on words. That's why I added the "unwrapping". And I do have the NPP and Mild to Wild switch. I love it.

Just having a little fun at your expense. I originally thought the unwrapping referenced unwrapping the exhaust packaging.

Can't hate on a wrap job that's done well, might be bad taste but that's subjective anyway. Looks better white though.

That is so funny,
In my search for cars, I always came across this one ...

Looks good in white. Fact is I could see the car in you picture because it was camouflaged. Surprised someone would want a picture of a C6 they couldn’t see
