Default What is with this?

Should I even use this filter on my 2005 Corvette? Why is it so much smaller than the older ones?

What is that writing on the box? The stock numbers are not the same. Should I even use this filter on my car? The box on the right is an older filter. And the one on the left is the one I just bought at Walmart a couple days ago. Is this a new GM filter?

This is scary!! Did they change the stock number?

Did something happen to the GM filters that I was not aware of?

The 46E is the newer “improved” design of the 46.

Here is a mirror of the original 2009 press release explaining the "e" filters:

I personally will only use a Wix oil filter.

There's nothing wrong just a new e core design and box.

Of course, I hate to see the Chinese lettering on the box- it makes me cringe! I use the UPF48R Ultraguard Gold (black) filter for the dry sump engine. You can also use that on wet sump engines.

They are made in China now. Some Wix filters are as well.

This thread made me go look at my supplies. I'm glad that I bought a bunch of the old PF48 years ago. I'm now down to my last 3.
I'll probably go for the Wix after they're gone. Never had a problem with either of these.

The writing is actually in both Korean (on top) and Japanese (on the bottom.)

I always use the Mobil 1 filter and oil. No problems.
