If you swap out the stock shifter for a MGW they offer the option of a threaded shaft, which opens up tons of different **** options. Plus the MGW is one of the best mods you can do to a C6.

That's the baddest shifter ever made. What wood are you using? Please post pictures when you're done. I wasn't planning on changing to a MGW shifter but if your idea works, I will.

Food for thought.... according to every high performance and racing school I've been through it's impossible to properly shift a manual with a pistol grip shifter. Your mileage may vary....

No Corvettes in my garage.
My first car, mom and dadś 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury. 361 V8, 4 speed manual transmission, Hurst shifter, round shift ****.
The old manś mid-life-crisis wheels? 1971 Plymouth Road Runner. Standard 383, 4 speed. Yes, standard pistol grip on the shifter. Looks really cool.
I was not and am not a fan of the Pistol Grip. There, I said it.
OP, have you driven one? Possible to get some extended seat time with one?
As always, this is just oneperson's opinion and YMMV.

I always thought the best shifter back in the muscle car days was the Hurst T handle… Competition Plus I think…anyways I really like the stock C6 shifter…works great for me… I have always thought… to get the best power shifts it’s more of what your used to shifting than some kind of magic mechanical advantage… practice… practice …practice

To get a proper shift you should not actually be gripping the shift ****. Your hand should cup the the top of the shift **** so it works like a ball and socket connection, which is why all modern cars with a manual have some type of rounded shift **** and no longer use 1960's ornamentation... the practice, practice, practice part of your statement I totally agree with, which is a good reason to always use the correct technique as what better time to practice and gain muscle memory than when casually driving on the street.

I had a 1969 Corvette 4 speed with a Hurst T handle shifter. When I really jumped on it accelerating hard, going from 2nd to 3rd and getting thrown back in my seat, I had difficulty getting it all the way into 3rd gear. I knew it was only a matter of time before I blew up my engine. I bought, modified and installed a pistol grip shifter and never missed 3rd gear again! It moved the shifting closer to me where I didn't have to pry my right shoulder out the seat to complete the 3rd gear shift.
In my present 2012 Corvette, I don't need the pistol grip shifter for the same reasons, but I want it!

I agree. And that is a MGW shifter.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Way way back in the day, I used to have a Hurst T-handle shifter exactly like that on my 1969 Roadrunner.
My buddy had a 1969 GTO that he also installed the same Hurst shifter in.
Very popular back in the 'Muscle Car' late 60s .... and still looks good in a C6
'Timeless' design
