To wide body or not wide body, that is the question!

I may be biased, I say go for it, I did on my 2006 Z51 four years ago. I did all the work myself, including paint and body work. I spent a total of $8,500.00 on all the parts, paint, tires, wheels, and Racemesh grills. I prefer to work in the shop instead of shopping for a new car.

For most people, well really for all people it will never make financial sense. It would make more sense to sell and buy the widebody.
However since you've explained your backstory I could completely understand wanting to do it. So I would say go for it. You only live once so might as well do what makes you happy.

I did a widebooty conversion on a previous C6 I owned and I was super happy with the results. It made me feel like I had a whole new car. Zero regrets.

Won’t a wide body kit add weight & drag?

Go for it! You will not regret it. Best mod I ever did. Earlier commenter said it makes it look fat? He’s right but he spelled it wrong…it makes it look PHAT! Here is my ‘07 C6 Vert base with a wide body conversion done in ‘13.

Is the wide body kit on your C6 just at the rear? I think it looks great this way

It is aftermarket. Made by ACI fiberglass to fit the OEM c6(narrower) fenders. The mesh grilles were custom made.

marginal at best on the weight, I doubt it on the drag since GM wind tunneled all these car and the Z06/ZR1 are the more track oriented car. It probably is no gain in drag. I'd say if it adds any weight at all its less than 2 pounds.

this is 100% incorrect. I ran wide body wheels and tires on the front of mine before doing the front conversion with no issues whatsoever.

I’m going to do something similar to my C6 after seeing this. The wide body rear & GS front bumper for narrow body as well as an aftermarket hood. To tie it all together a pro charger system by A&A Corvette!
