Should I sell my manifolds/cats?
I purchased a 2008 Z06 in December. The previous owner had upgraded to Kooks headers and X-pipe (catless). The car didn't smell great and I know our area (Ontario) requires cats, so I had 3" high-flow cats put in when I had the heads fixed (car was tuned, and part of the smell could have been too rich at idle).
They used to do emissions testing in our area, but no longer do. They are considering returning to routine safety testing though. Should I bother keeping the stock manifolds/cats? I know they have some value, but is there any sense in keeping them? Personally, I don't see any reason to go back to stock setup, but is this something valuable for the (potential) next owner, or should I capitalize on the spare parts now?

Save the parts. When I modded my C4 I nearly got rid of all the stock parts. 12 years later I was glad to drag them down from the attic so I could put it back stock and sell it. Got killer money for the aftermarket parts and sold the car for the same money I would have gotten either way.

That's my thinking too, but reverting manifolds/x-pipe back to stock isn't straightforward, and would likely require a retune to do it properly?

I'd keep them. They won't sell for much and they don't take up much room to store.

I guess, back in 2013 when I installed my set of headers with cats on my 2011 GS, the cats weren't worth much money ... I just threw all of it in the trash.
However, had I have saved the stock exhaust manifolds, cats and y-pipe, they would more than likely still be sitting in my garage taking up space.
And when I die of old age, they more than likely would still be there.

Keep them, you never know, they aren't cheap, and you don't know what the future might bring.

Depends if you have the space to store them or not. If space isn't an issue, do you need the money? If not, your answer is clear. You clearly saw enough. Already in them to take them when you bought the car...

It's all fun and games until your local laws change and require a visual inspection to pass your state emission requirements... ask me how I know...
