How do you folks with convertibles have your HVAC settings adjusted on hot days? Without the AC running it seems that all I can get out of the vents is very hot air from the engine bay. Is it alright to run the AC with the top down? Thanks.

Hi DD - I keep climate control the same all the time, even with top down. If the recirculate light is on, you'd certainly get "warmer" air from the vents. I recall that with recirculate off, I can feel cool air from the vents, but with all that air circulating at speed, it doesn't affect the cabin temperature at all.

With the top down I have the air conditioning on set at 60 degrees. It blows cold all the time. Normally I have it set on the vents, but if the feet start to get a little warm due to heat from the engine and trans I divert the air through the lower vents. You notice the most benefit at stop lights.

I run my AC with the top down also. I leave it on Auto and let it run at the same setting as when the top is up.

I drive with the top down and a/c on...The cool air circulates with the warm and makes it feel like a nice cool beeze..
