Cant tell if they want to race, or kill me.
Anyone else get an absurd amount of people trying to race? its gotten to the point almost every time i go out, some mustang/Camaro/Charger like, VOILENTLY, tries to race me. I'm not opposed to good spirited fun (in the right time and place) Ive driven alot of fast cars in my years but in the past 4 months ive had more people attempt to start a drag race than my other 22 years of driving combined.
I feel like people got it out for vettes... am i the only one? or you guys get it too? Or is it just spite because we tend to be older, more tempered drivers and they wanna pick on us. =)

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
It’s one of the things that comes with owning a corvette- rampant douchebaggery by other drivers. Most people are cool and couldn’t care less about our cars. All it takes is one though.

Not sure about the violent comment, but I have people playfully stoplight challenging me all the time. Even cars that are nowhere near capable of competing. I look at it as a sign of respect for the All-American sports car.

Like, tailgate me 1/2 a car length (when im doing 10 over) pulling up next to me and "lurching", 2 lane road going into the oncoming lane to race when we have maybe 1/4 mile visibility... Very aggressive

Yes, on more occasions than not. Usually it's the tailgaters not the racers. I'm not the "slow" driver, but, I like to cruise once in a while taking in the sights so to say. But, there's always somebody who wants to push me and then follow my moves when I speed up. I once ran off from a van that tried to keep up despairedly. He couldn't, of course, so he finally gave up. Usually, I pull over and let them have their day beating me. However, it does irk the **** out of me when I can't enjoy a cruise in my Vette. The car in itself seems to be a magnet for idiots and jerks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for it provided i don't have the kid in the car or other things that would prevent me from breaking the law... and there is enough space to get out of first gear.
Just seems like they REALLY try hard. Pretty sure this guy today followed me about 10 minutes out of his way to this extremely short straightaway pulled into the oncoming lane then hit it for about 1.5 seconds. I wasn't sure what he was doing so i slowed down and let him pass because the 90 turn up ahead was very, very close. He immediately found a parking lot and turned around went back the way we came.
not sure where Ed is from, maybe its just the TN mountains. Everyone looking to be a asphalt hero! Sorry your 2010+ boring "muscle car" looks like everything else on the road, im sure its super dooper fast =)

I've been challenged by everything from a Viper to a Volvo and everything in between. It comes with the car. Most of the time people just want to hear the car instead of actually race. Sometimes I have a little fun but most of the time I don't. Unless there's a kid onlooking - then all bets are off. It's full steam ahead. Gotta give them something to dream about and work toward!

The kids down here FLIP for it. Literally every boy between 5-13 years old will point and tug on his mom/dads arm. Very rural/poor area, a nice Vette really turns heads round here. Now back where i grew up in Michigan, they look down their nose, call it a hillbilly because its not a Prius... /wrists
Ive had yet to really let her rip on any of them unfortunately. My exit came up, doing brake break in, kid in the car, couple times just flat out unsafe. I don't see many 2 lane stoplights, when i do i feel like once i hit above 3500 RPM my exhaust has just gotta be a cop magnet. Dont feel safe doing anything in the city anymore. But the numbers don't lie, if they are stock like me not much has a chance outside the exotics. Beating a dead horse but the c6 is truly remarkable the performance per dollar.
I had a really nice 91 Mr2 turbo i drove for 5 or 6 years... cant remember a time anyone tried to race me in that. Seems odd.

Almost never do i have anyone pull up to race or even acknowledge that the Vette is a sweet ride. I pretty much mind my own business for the most part.

I've had a few instances where others want to race.......when they see the supercharged badges I believe they just want to see what the car will do. Seldom do I do anything to amuse them. However, after a cruise in north of Phoenix, I was on my way back to my home when a Mustang GT 500 (a brand new car) came around me on the freeway, pulled in front of me and put on the brakes to the point where I had to jam the brakes to avoid hitting him. It did **** me off to the point where I went around him on the right side with heavy throttle just to get away from this guy, then he began the pull up beside and rev the engine trick. I just couldn't help myself. There were no cars in front of us and I down shifted and hit it......pulled him by about 3 lengths in about 5 seconds, and shut it down. He was embarrassed enough that he slowed down and left me alone. I was not about to get pulled over by a camouflaged state trooper. On one other scenario a tuner Honda pulled up beside me and I was determined to put this guy in his place. He went on to pull me badly. I was embarrassed, however, he pulled into a parking lot , and I stopped to meet him and we talked about his car that had 875hp with 50 lbs of boost. I should have known when I spotted drag radials on the front of his car. Very nice kid through it all. There is always someone faster, and generally I don't do any street racing, and I did learn my lesson so to speak.

I haven’t even had my new C6 for barely two months yet and I have had more people try to get a rise out of me in that car than all of my other previous cars combined. It’s to the point now to where I expect it. And as was previously stated, it ranges from Dodge challengers to Dodge minivans. It comes with the car. But I don’t get on it for nobody. Just for me. I’m 57 now so it’s a been-there-done-that situation for me. I had my fun with all my mustangs and showing off in the 90s. Now I just want to cruise in class and enjoy the car on my terms. That’s why I got an automatic this time around. Seriously considering getting a license plate frame that says “My car may be fast, but I’m in no hurry”. 😁 Every time someone eggs me on I think to myself… “I know what I’ve got, I don’t have to prove anything to you“…or “Yeah, I see you“.
That being said I do kinda miss ripping through the gears in my 5.0’s like I did lol. But I was harder on those cars than I want to be with the Vette. The Vette was also three times the money. 😉

It happens occasionally. I get positive comments much more often. I think that's because it's easier to do when stopped in traffic, since I almost always have the top down.
