Default Brake dust

I can’t take the brake dust anymore. Every time I take the car out the wheels load up with brake dust. Between that and the rear fascia getting dirty and dusty every time I take a ride! I have an 06 z51 not looking to upgrade rotors and all that. Car has 21,000mi so are there pads out there I can change to to avoid this and keep my sanity? Lol. Thanks all!

Duralast Gold from AutoZone are excellent pads with low dust, low noise, and a very affordable price.

Ceramic brake pads. I also went with the Duralast Gold Ceramic brake pads from AutoZone for my GS. Solved my brake dust issues.

Yes, ceramic brakes do the trick. I put AC Delco brakes on my 07' C6 with Z-51 code and they work fine with very little dust. I don't track my car, however, the braking is just fine.

A trip to autozone is in order I guess. Duralast gold seems like the pads most recommend. Thank you all!

Do those ones squeal as bad as the stock brakes? I’m tired of the dust but not willing to sacrifice safety with ceramic pads if possible. I know there’s give and take, but I could put up with the squealing as long as it’s not worse.

My factory pads squealed and had tons of dust. The Hawk pads are very quiet, very low dust. I put on new rotors and they are still smooth.
To temporarily get rid of squeal get up to 80 and make a couple HARD stops. Deglazes pads and rotors. It will come back though.

I've been doing brakes for almost 50 years and I've tried almost every major brand and I will only use PowerStop. I put them on my C6 GS Callaway and the improvement in braking is unreal and no dust. I do get a slight squeak when I first pull it out of the garage but that's all. I switched the Corvette soon after I bought it and it only had 12k on it. Do a hard stop from 130 and you will nearly pass out they pull so hard.

I agree. I put PowerStop pads on a C6 GS and a C7 Z06 because of brake dust. I bought the PowerStop pads for the C7Z before the car was delivered.

Seems like powerstop, hawk and duralast gold ceramic seem to be the most popular. I assume all these brands are ceramic? Honestly anything has to be better than the stock pads. I can’t drive one block and the wheels are caked with dust.

This is a great thread. I have the ZR1 wheels and EVERY time I take the car out I come home with brake dust loaded on the wheels. I still have the original pads at 9500 miles on my 427 vert.

Stupid question but I can change the pads without turning the rotors?
